Salary: £48,000 – £55,000 per annum (DOE)

Shift Pattern: 7 on, 21 off (7:30 PM – 8:30 AM with a 30-minute handover each side)

• GVC are collaborating with a well-established Small Animal Practice in County Durham, seeking a committed and experienced Night Veterinary Surgeon to join their dedicated out-of-hours (OOH) team. This role provides an excellent opportunity for a veterinary professional looking to develop their Emergency and Critical Care (ECC) skills in a supportive and well-equipped environment.

The Role

• Work as part of a structured night team, ensuring continuous patient care alongside 1 vet, 1 nurse, and 1 auxiliary staff member. Manage a structured caseload, typically handling 1-2 consults per night, with an average of 4 inpatients (rising to 10+ inpatients on a busy night). Benefit from an advanced clinical setup, including an in-house laboratory, Digital X-ray, Ultrasound, Upper and Lower GI Endoscopes, Rigid Female Canine Cystoscope, and Bronchoscope. Enjoy flexibility in shift patterns, with the potential to explore a mix of day and night shifts if desired. Supported by certificate holders across multiple disciplines, with encouragement for additional ECC training and professional development.
