Job Title: Account Officer

Location: Lagos

Employment Type: Contract

Job Purpose

  • The Account Officer will be responsible for ensuring accurate and timely financial record-keeping, supporting financial operations, and maintaining compliance with organizational policies and donor requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, including receipts, invoices, and payments.
  • Assist in the preparation of financial statements and reports in compliance with organizational policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Support the monitoring of project budgets and ensure expenditures align with approved budgets.
  • Conduct regular bank reconciliations and resolve any discrepancies promptly.
  • Prepare and manage monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
  • Ensure timely preparation of accounts in line with donor and NGO-specific reporting standards.
  • Ensure compliance with donor regulations, tax laws, and internal financial policies.
  • Assist in internal and external audits by providing necessary financial documentation.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 2–3 years of post-NYSC accounting experience, preferably in an NGO setting.
  • Proficiency in preparing accounts and financial statements in line with NGO-specific requirements.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting software and ERP systems.
  • High level of proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint).
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.

Added Advantage:

  • Knowledge of accounting practices specific to NGOs.
  • Experience in donor-funded projects.

Salary

  • N200,000 – N250,000 / month.
