Job Title: Audit Trainee

Location: Lagos

Employment Type: Full-time

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in performing audits of client financial statements, ensuring compliance with IFRS, GAAP, and local regulatory requirements.
  • Gather, analyze, and document audit evidence, including invoices, bank statements, and financial records.
  • Perform substantive testing and verify financial transactions for accuracy and completeness.
  • Assist in evaluating internal controls and identifying potential risks and weaknesses.
  • Work under the supervision of senior auditors to prepare audit working papers and reports.
  • Assist in tax computations and compliance reviews.
  • Participate in stock counts, fixed asset verification, and bank reconciliations as required.
  • Ensure audit procedures are followed according to firm policies and professional standards.
  • Stay updated on accounting and auditing regulations relevant to Nigeria and global standards.
  • Assist in drafting audit findings and recommendations for client improvements.

Qualifications & Skills

  • BSc or HND in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (or in progress).
  • 1 – 3 years experience
  • ICAN, ACCA, or other professional accounting certification (part-qualified or in progress) is an advantage.
  • Basic knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and Nigerian tax regulations.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Attention to detail and ability to work with large volumes of data.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, or similar).
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Willingness to travel for audit assignments.

Work Environment:

  • Typically, office-based but may require travel to client locations.
  • May involve long working hours, especially during peak audit periods.
