Job Title: Backend Engineer

Location: Lagos

Employment Type: Full-time

Job Summary

  • Our client is looking for a talented Full Stack Engineer to join their innovative team.
  • The ideal candidate must have a strong background in both front-end and back-end development, specifically with Next.js and Nest.js.

Responsibilities

  • Write, test, and maintain high-quality code and documentation.
  • Build prototypes and resolve technical issues while profiling and analyzing performance bottlenecks.
  • Design robust APIs to support mobile and desktop clients.
  • Manage and optimize scalable distributed systems in the cloud.
  • Optimize web applications for performance and scalability.
  • Develop automated tests to ensure business requirements are met and facilitate regression testing.
  • Collaborate with the development team to build and enhance back-office tools.
  • Contribute to architecture discussions and decisions to enhance application design and functionality.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (preferred but not required).
  • 4+ years of experience in software development with a proven track record of delivering successful projects.
  • Expertise in programming languages such as JavaScript and TypeScript (preference for TypeScript).
  • Strong understanding of web technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, TypeScript) and frameworks (Next.js, Nest.js, React).
  • Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS or Huawei Cloud, as well as containerization technologies like Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Solid understanding of software architecture, design patterns, and data structures.
  • Proven experience with RESTful APIs, microservices architecture, and distributed systems.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
  • Knowledge of fintech regulations, payment processing systems, and security standards.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, along with strong problem-solving abilities.
