Key Purpose:
- The primary purpose of this role is to formulate communication and advocacy strategies that align with business objectives. It also involves anticipating challenges, safeguarding reputation, and effectively managing dialogue with stakeholders.
Key Outputs and Responsibilities:
- Lead The Corporate Affairs Function:
- Develop the Corporate Affairs Strategic Plan and Goals:
- Proactively identify reputation and license-to-trade risk factors.
- Monitor internal and external stakeholders’ expectations and perceptions to ensure alignment of the plan.
- Develop the Corporate Affairs Strategic Plan and Goals:
- Manage the Implementation of the Corporate Affairs Plan and Goals:
- Agree upon and implement team and individual goals.
- Provide proactive leadership to achieve high performance and functional goals.
- Integrate corporate affairs initiatives with other business activities to optimize synergies.
- Safeguard Compliance with Corporate Affairs Ways & Policies Implementation:
- Ensure consistent governance in the business through corporate affairs policies.
- Implement responsible alcohol practices to align with group practices in the local business.
- Guide Business Thinking and Practice to Achieve Integrated Reputation Management:
- Closely monitor stakeholder expectations and perceptions to identify potential gaps and reputation risks.
- Leverage internal and external stakeholder relationships, media, and internal communications to build, manage, and enhance reputation.
- Build Business Capability In Alcohol Responsibility And Sustainable Development:
- Build a culture of alcohol responsibility.
- Monitor internal stakeholder commitment to implementing responsible alcohol practices.
- Engage external stakeholders to constructively debate alcohol-related issues and establish networks and partnerships.
- Source information on the regulatory and excise environment and assess potential business impact.
- Understand the local market, legal, and regulatory environment.
- Lead and Manage Corporate Social Investment:
- Develop CSI plans that reflect local priorities and leverage community and business advantages aligned with the overall business and strategic plan.
- Develop Partnerships and Manage Stakeholder Relationships:
- Engage with external stakeholders to enhance reputation and minimize risk.
- Understand the attitudes and concerns of the broader community, consumers, government, and interest groups to formulate a view on their position, objectives, and likely stance.
- Engage with internal stakeholders to influence business thinking and decisions.

- Identify key external stakeholder groups based on their impact on business objectives and reputation.
- Sponsor Internal Communication:
- Develop protocols in conjunction with HR to guide the content and distribution of internal communications.
- Ensure consistency between internal and external messaging through integrated communication planning.
- Manage Crisis Communication:
- Manage media relations during crises to minimize reputational damage and restore stakeholder confidence.
- Brief other spokespeople and manage information flow to the media during a crisis.
- Manage Media Communications:
- Assume the role of a spokesperson to convey the company’s position and present complex ideas clearly and authoritatively.
- Proactively develop relationships with the media to create accessible and available communication channels.
- Manage Corporate Communication:
Profile:
- Education: A minimum of a First Degree in Social Sciences or Humanities.
- Experience: 4-5 years of experience in a similar role.
- Membership of the Nigeria Institute of Public Relations is legally mandatory and compulsory for any corporate affairs practitioner in Nigeria.
- Knowledge of media and people management practices.
