Job Title: Diesel Supervisor

Job Summary

  • The Diesel Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the maintenance, repair, and efficient operation of diesel-powered equipment and machinery used in mining operations.
  • This role ensures maximum equipment availability, compliance with safety standards, and optimal use of resources to support production goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate the servicing, maintenance, and repair of diesel-powered mining equipment (e.g., haul trucks, excavators, drills, loaders, generators).
  • Assign tasks to diesel mechanics and technicians and ensure timely job completion.
  • Monitor equipment performance and initiate corrective maintenance actions when required.
  • Maintain accurate service records, maintenance logs, and parts inventory.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical issues related to diesel engines and associated systems.
  • Enforce safety standards and ensure all maintenance work is carried out in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Monitor fuel usage, oil consumption, and ensure proper handling of lubricants and spare parts.
  • Recommend and implement improvements in maintenance procedures and equipment reliability.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Diploma or Trade Certificate in Mechanical Engineering, Diesel Mechanics, or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience with diesel engines and heavy mining equipment, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
  • Strong technical knowledge of diesel systems, hydraulics, and powertrains.
  • Good understanding of preventive maintenance practices and maintenance planning.
  • Familiarity with OEM manuals, diagnostic tools, and CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems).
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Commitment to safety, environmental compliance, and team development.
