Job Title: Experienced Litigation Clerk

Location: Lagos

Employment Type: Full-time

Reports to: Head of Chambers

Job Summary

  • The Litigation Clerk will provide essential administrative and clerical support to the legal team, particularly in relation to court processes, filing of documents, and case management.
  • The role requires a diligent individual who is familiar with litigation procedures in Nigerian courts, including court filing, service of processes, and follow-up on court activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • File court processes in various courts (Magistrate, High Court, Court of Appeal, etc.) across Lagos and other jurisdictions.
  • Effect service of court processes and maintain accurate records of service.
  • Monitor case schedules, adjournments, and court sitting dates.
  • Obtain certified true copies (CTCs) of judgments, rulings, and other documents from court registries.
  • Organize and maintain litigation files and update case status regularly.
  • Support counsel during trial preparations by retrieving legal documents and evidence files.
  • Maintain an efficient case diary and alert relevant lawyers on court dates and deadlines.
  • Liaise with court officials, law enforcement agencies, and regulatory bodies where necessary.
  • Assist in legal research, printing, and binding of legal documents.

Qualifications and Experience

  • OND or relevant qualification in Law, Office Administration, or related field.
  • Minimum of 7 years of proven experience as a litigation clerk or court liaison.
  • Good understanding of court structures, litigation procedures, and documentation in Nigeria.
  • Ability to draft and review affidavits of service and other basic legal forms.
