Job Title: Finance & Admin Volunteer
Location: Maiduguri, Borno
Employment Type: Volunteer (with opportunity for long-term engagement)
Role Summary
- The Finance & Admin Volunteer will support the Finance and Administration Department in the efficient execution of daily operations.
- This includes managing accounting records, supporting procurement documentation, maintaining financial systems, and ensuring compliance with Explore Aid’s internal controls and donor guidelines.
- The role is a great opportunity for a proactive individual seeking hands-on experience in non-profit financial and administrative operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in preparing, verifying, and processing financial documents, including invoices, receipts, vouchers, and bank payment instructions.
- Support the maintenance of accurate financial records using accounting software and manual filing systems.
- Monitor and reconcile petty cash, ensuring all expenditures are accurately recorded and supported by appropriate documentation.
- Collaborate with the Procurement Officer to ensure all financial documentation for procurement activities is complete and compliant.
- Organize and maintain both digital and hard copy files of financial documents in line with Explore Aid’s filing protocol.
- Assist in monthly bank reconciliation and expenditure tracking.
- Support the preparation of monthly financial reports for internal use and donor reporting.
- Assist in organizing logistics for staff travel, including hotel reservations, per diem calculation, and itinerary preparation.
- Help coordinate office operations such as utility payments, office supply management, and inventory checks.
- Participate in audit preparation by compiling required documentation and liaising with auditors.
- Ensure confidentiality of financial and organizational information at all times.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Minimum of OND in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.
- Understanding of accounting principles and experience with Microsoft Excel and/or QuickBooks.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and maintain professionalism.
- Good written and verbal communication skills in English.
Preferably:
- Prior volunteer/internship experience in a finance or administration role.
- Familiarity with donor-funded project accounting and procurement documentation.
