1). Intern, Capital Mobilization and Partnerships

Location: Lagos

Job Summary

  • This is a front office role where the Intern is required to provide technical, financial and general administrative support to the Capital Mobilization and Partnerships Team of AFC; a team which is responsible for AFC’s Equity
  • Mobilization efforts, Membership & Ratification of African countries and positioning AFC as partner of choice by fostering collaborations with key institutions on the continent and across key global markets in Europe, Middle East, Asia Pacific and North America.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support in equity raise efforts including:
  • Investor mapping & engagements
  • Preparation of investor engagement materials (pitch books, investor analysis, financial models)
  • Due diligence & iterative Q&A sessions with prospective investors
  • Coordinating roadshows for equity investors and workstreams required for investor engagements during roadshows
  • Support market intelligence, economic, socio-political and global project research for key target markets
  • Manage technical and administrative duties in relation to AFC country membership & ratification program
  • Engage in partnership discussions and support execution of initiatives emanating from partnerships

Education

  • First degree in Finance, Accounting or Economics.
  • Relevant certifications related to finance and/or project management.
  • Additional relevant qualifications such an MBA or MSc. (could be in view) in a relevant field will be an advantage.

Experience

  • Minimum of 3 years professional experience
  • Previous internship or work experience in investment banking, private equity, equity capital raising, corporate finance and multilateral finance institutions
  • Willingness to travel “out-of-station” with minimal prior notice
  • Fluency in written and spoken English is mandatory while oral and written fluency in other international languages will be an added advantage.

2). Analyst, Corporate Funding

Job Summary

  • The Analyst, Corporate Funding will support funding transactions, including bonds, loans, and private placements.
  • The role involves market research, preparing investor materials, maintaining databases, and ensuring compliance with financial covenants.
  • This role requires multitasking in a fast-paced environment, collaborating with internal and external stakeholders, and occasionally traveling with minimal notice.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct market research to track developments in global and African capital markets, including interest rates, credit spreads, and investor sentiment
  • Maintain databases of funding activities, investor interactions, and key financial metrics
  • Work with internal teams to ensure compliance with financial covenants and regulatory requirements
  • Conduct KYC on institutions that may be funding AFC to ensure that they meet AFC’s on-boarding and compliance requirements
  • Track all cash flows payable to lenders and ensure that the payments are made as at when due with no defaults
  • Provide general support on funding-related and investor relations – related projects and initiatives

Education

  • A strong bachelor’s degree in finance, Economics, Accounting, Business Administration, Engineering from a recognized university.
  • Possession of an MBA or a master’s degree in a finance-related discipline, or final level attainment in, a relevant professional certification (CFA, ACA, FRM, ACI, etc.) is an added advantage.

Experience

  • 2-4 years of experience in corporate finance, capital markets, treasury, or investment banking
  • Working experience within a multicultural and diverse working environment.
