Job Title: Gastroenterologist

Location: Surulere, Lagos
Employment Type: Full-time
Reports to: Department Head, Medical Director, or Chief of Gastroenterology
Working Schedule: Mondays to Fridays 9am-5pm and alternate weekends
Resumption: Immediately.

Job Summary

• Diagnose and treat disorders and diseases of the digestive system, including the stomach, intestines, liver, and pancreas, providing high-quality patient care and promoting digestive health.

Key Responsibilities

• Patient Evaluation: Evaluate patients with digestive symptoms, performing physical exams, reviewing medical histories, and ordering diagnostic tests.
• Diagnosis and Treatment: Diagnose digestive conditions, developing and implementing treatment plans, including medications, therapies, and lifestyle modifications.
• Endoscopic Procedures: Perform endoscopic procedures, such as colonoscopies, upper endoscopies, and liver biopsies.
• Patient Education: Educate patients and their families on digestive conditions, treatment options, and lifestyle modifications.
• Collaboration with Other Healthcare Professionals: Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, including primary care physicians, surgeons, and other specialists, to provide comprehensive care.
• Research and Staying Current: Stay current with the latest advances in gastroenterology, participating in research studies, attending conferences, and reading industry publications.

Education and Qualifications

• Medical Degree: Medical Degree (M.D. or D.O.) from an accredited medical school.
• Residency and Fellowship: Completion of a residency program in internal medicine and a fellowship program in gastroenterology.
• Licensure and Certification: Licensure to practice medicine in the state and certification by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) in gastroenterology.
• Experience: 2+ years of experience in gastroenterology, preferably in a hospital or clinical setting.

• Staying Current with Medical Advances: Commitment to staying current with the latest advances in gastroenterology, including new technologies, treatments, and research findings.
