1). Quality, Health, Safety, and Environment (QHSE) Manager

Job Summary

  • We are on an evolutionary journey where we’re changing our story. We are looking to hire an experienced QHSE Manager to join our diverse team in our Company.
  • In this role, you will oversee and manage all aspects of the business’ QHSE programs. This includes developing, implementing, and maintaining policies, procedures, and guidelines to ensure compliance with relevant standards and regulations.
  • The role also involves conducting risk assessments, audits, and investigations, as well as promoting a culture of safety and quality throughout the business.

As a QHSE Manager, You Will Be Responsible For

  • Maintaining records/registers of injuries and illnesses occurred, and treatment given by the base & field locations Medic.
  • Presenting all personnel on board with safety induction training and instructing inductees on hazards relevant to their positions.
  • Conducting regular hygiene inspections on SDI office, base and field locations.
  • Maintaining emergency medical equipment in prepared state of readiness and maintaining an accurate inventory of same. 
  • Participating in and contributing to the objectives described in the MODU’s annual plan.
  • Providing safety training to employees and assisting Operations & Base Manager with hazard identification, accident prevention and recognition.
  • Advising Operations & Base Manager on safety administration and safety inspections.
  • Maintaining an accurate inventory of safety and lifesaving equipment in the office, base and field locations and instructing all personnel on its use.
  • Ensuring that all Lifesaving Appliances such as fire extinguishers, lifeboat inventories etc. are carried out as per the maintenance program.
  • Assisting in the implementation of safety policies and procedures in accordance with local, state, federal, maritime and company regulations and monitor effectiveness.
  • Ordering and obtaining training materials and maintain a record of all training activities.
  • Undertaking audits and inspections in line with the company’s audit and inspection procedures.
  • Being the Custodian of national and international regulatory and compliances protocols, certifications and registrations.
  • Maintaining an up-to-date HSE and Quality Management system.
  • Coordinating and managing emergency preparedness.
  • Participating in and monitoring all safety initiatives and safety programs.
  • Participating in and monitoring all safety meetings, including weekly, pretour and pre-job/toolbox meetings.
  • Monitoring personnel and equipment for compliance with statutory requirements and the company’s policies and procedures.
  • Participating in discipline and counselling procedures relating to issues concerning safety
  • Preparing and sending reports to the Line Manager on the implementation of safety programs
  • Maintaining accurate personnel and training records
  • Implementing the hazard communication program
  • Overseeing the activities and duties of all Mechanics on the base and field locations.
  • Performing other duties as assigned by Line Manager

What Are We Looking For

  • Bachelor’s Degree in related Discipline
  • NEBOSH Certificate, Instructors’ qualifications or First-Aid/CPR
  • Minimum of 7 years’ experience as a Safety Officer in the oil and gas industry – with at least 5 years on land, swamp, base and field locations.
  • Must maintain knowledge of hazardous waste policies and procedures
  • Excellent knowledge of QHSE principles and Laws
  • Knowledge and understanding of the impact of failure of QHSE key systems and processes.
  • Problem solving and Time management
  • Coaching and Supervisory skills
  • Proficiency in the use of MS Office Suite (Word, Excel and Power Point)
  • Leadership skill

2). Group Litigation Counsel

Summary

  • Providing strategic legal advice on litigation and dispute resolution.
  • Managing external counsel and litigation.
  • Minimizing legal risk exposure through proactive legal support and early dispute resolution.
  • Representing the company in negotiations, mediations, arbitrations, and court proceedings as needed.

Responsibilities
Representing the Group:

  • Attending courts and tribunals at all levels (magistrate, federal, state, and appellate courts) to advocate for the Group.

Legal Research and Analysis:

  • Conducting in-depth research, analyzing legal precedents, and identifying implications for cases.

Case Strategy and Development:

  • Strategizing with external counsel for the prosecution and defence of litigation and other dispute resolution.
  • Supporting the business in reviewing pre-litigation and arbitration claims.
  • Case Evaluation and findings, developing arguments, and formulating strategies for litigation and all other dispute resolutions.

Legal Advice and Guidance:

  • Provision of legal opinion to the business as the need arises
  • Providing counsel on legal matters, compliance, and litigation and dispute risk mitigation.
  • Post Judgment/Orders Management.
  • In-house training of identified frontline staff on Anti-Bribery & Corruption and Anti-Trust Compliance requirements.

Document Review and Negotiation:

  • Reviewing and revising the draft court processes and submissions from external counsel in all matters involving the Group.
  • In this role you will be responsible for managing and overseeing all litigation and dispute resolution matters involving the Group.
  • This role ensures that the company’s legal interests are protected in all contentious matters, including commercial disputes, regulatory investigations, employment claims, and contractual disagreements.
  • The Litigation Counsel works closely with internal stakeholders and external counsel to develop and execute effective legal strategies, mitigate risk, and ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.

Requirements
What are we looking for?

  • First Degree in Law (LLB, BL) Possession of a Postgraduate degree in Corporate Law will be an advantage
  • Qualified to Practice as a Barrister and Solicitor in Nigeria.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a litigation/dispute resolution associate within a top-tier law firm. Additional experience as litigation counsel within a corporate organization will be a plus.
  • Expertise in litigation, arbitration, and dispute resolution under Nigerian law (particularly, civil and criminal procedure, arbitration, mediation).
  • Strong knowledge of contract law. Regulatory compliance (local and international regulations in relation to varying subjects including energy, labor, aviation, maritime etc., environmental law, health and safety standards).
  • Ability to analyze complex legal issues and assess litigation risks.
  • Strategic thinking and litigation planning to align legal strategy with business objectives.
  • Proficiency in legal research and interpretation of statutes, case law, and regulations.
  • Risk assessment and mitigation in contractual, environmental, and operational disputes.
  • Ability to manage multi-party disputes, including joint ventures and community-related claims
  • Understanding of technical reports and operational data relevant to litigation
