Job Summary
- We are seeking an experienced Lead Auditor with extensive expertise in auditing within the energy sector.
- The ideal candidate will lead audit engagements, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, internal policies, and industry standards.
- This role requires strong analytical skills, leadership capabilities, and deep knowledge of energy generation, transmission, distribution, and trading operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage comprehensive audit engagements across various segments of the energy sector, including generation, transmission, distribution, and energy trading.
- Plan, execute, and oversee financial, operational, compliance, and IT audits tailored to the energy industry.
- Evaluate internal controls, risk management processes, and governance frameworks specific to energy companies.
- Identify audit risks related to energy production, billing, regulatory compliance, environmental standards, and contractual obligations.
- Develop detailed audit plans, perform fieldwork, and prepare clear, concise audit reports with actionable recommendations.
- Collaborate with senior management and stakeholders to communicate audit findings and support implementation of corrective actions.
- Stay updated on industry regulations, accounting standards (e.g., IFRS, GAAP), and emerging trends affecting the energy sector.
- Mentor and train junior auditors, fostering professional development and ensuring audit quality.
- Coordinate with external auditors, regulatory bodies, and other third parties during audit processes.
- Utilize data analytics and audit software tools to enhance audit efficiency and effectiveness.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Engineering, or a related field. A Master’s degree or professional certifications (e.g., CPA, CIA, CISA) are highly desirable.
- Minimum of 7-10 years of auditing experience, with at least 5 years focused on the energy sector.
- In-depth knowledge of energy industry operations, regulatory environment, and financial reporting requirements.
- Strong understanding of risk assessment, internal controls, and compliance frameworks.
- Proven leadership skills with experience managing audit teams and complex projects.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Proficiency in audit management software and data analytics tools.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience auditing renewable energy projects and sustainability initiatives.
- Familiarity with energy trading platforms and market regulations.
- Knowledge of environmental, health, and safety (EHS) compliance in the energy sector.
