Nigeria LNG (NLNG) Limited – The Literary Criticism Award – Literature cannot be said to have evolved if it lacks a vibrant reading and critical culture. A healthy dose of literary criticism is, therefore, necessary for the sustenance and growth of literature. Therefore literary criticism must be supported and encouraged for robust development and growth of creative writing. These considerations led Nigeria LNG Limited to introduce a prize for literary criticism in 2012. The Nigerian Prize for Literary Criticism currently has a cash value of USD 10,000.

Applications are invited for:

1). The Nigeria Prize for Literary Criticism Award 2023

Description

  • Since the aim of the Prize is to promote Nigerian literature, it is open to literary critics from all over the world critiquing Nigerian literature.
  • For the purposes of this prize, Nigerian literature is defined as literature on Nigeria and the Nigerian experience and not literature written by a Nigerian. Special consideration is, however, given to critical essays on the works of the new generation of Nigerian writers.
  • The winners of this Prize are presented at the public presentation of winners of The Nigeria Prize for Literature.
  • Entries are hereby invited for the Nigeria Prize for Literary Criticism. They yearly  prize is sponsored by Nigeria LNG to honour the author of the best critical work.

Award Prize

  • To encourage literary criticism, the Advisory Board of the Nigeria Prize for Literature will reward one critic with the sum of USD 10,000
  • The prize will be awarded for no other reason than excellence
  • The winner(s), if any, will be announced and presented in October 2023.

2). The Nigeria Prize for Literature, 2023

Location: Nigeria

Details

  • Entries are invited for the Nigeria Prize for Literature.
  • The yearly Literature Prize is sponsored by Nigeria LNG to honor the author of the best book by a Nigerian.
  • The prize rotates among four literary genres – prose fiction, poetry, drama, and children’s literature. This year, the competition is for Drama.
  • The winner(s) would receive an award of USD100,000.00

Panel of Judges

  • A pane of judges has been appointed by the Nigerian Prize for Literature by the Advisory board for the Nigeria Prize for Literature.
  • The appointment of the judges has been done to reflect the genre in completion for the year.
  • Persons appointed for judges has wide experiences, peer recognition, good public image and command respect nationally and internationally.

3). Innovation for Enhancement of Healthcare Therapy

Details

  • Entries are invited from Scientists and Innovators worldwide for advancing scientific solutions to a prescribed problem as captured by the theme for the year, Innovation for Enhancement of Healthcare Therapy.

Scope

  • Cure or protocols for effective management of specific/particular health challenges.
  • Technologies/Protocols for effective management of healthcare therapy.
  • Processes for managing major outbreaks/pandemics.

Eligibility

  • The award is open to scientists an innovators worldwide (Nigerians and non-Nigerians) involved in the application of science to proffer innovations for enhancement of healthcare therapy.
  • Members of the Advisory Board or Panel of Judges or their relatives are not allowed to enter their works for the Science Prize during their year of service as well as the following year.
  • Nigeria LNG staff or their family members are ineligible to enter for the prize.
