We are recruiting to fill the position below:
Job Title: Nursing Activity Manager
Location: Kebbi

Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Planning and organizing all nursing related activities (IPD, OPD, maternity, nutrition, etc.) and participating in the definition of annual planning and update of its associated budget in order to efficiently maintain the continuity of the standard quality healthcare. When needed, being responsible for scheduling duty rosters, shifts and on call of nursing staff.
- Coordinating and supervising the implementation of the legal therapeutic protocols, procedures and standards, depending on project objectives (PPTCT, PEP, VCT, IEC, SGBV, MH services, etc.) and providing technical support when needed, to ensure the quality of the nursing care, confidentiality and information traceability, patient surveillance, and the application of the therapeutic and sterilization rules by the health care personnel.
- Supervising the nutritional activities in order to ensure that therapeutic food is provided regularly and that it complies with quality and quantity standards
- Ensuring all administrative procedures and documents (individual patient’s card and registration book, discharge paper, transfer paper, etc.) and existing data management tools are used correctly
- According to MSF protocols and in collaboration with the Pharmacist and Medco, supervising the distribution (according to medical prescriptions) and pharmacy activity, preparing new orders when required, supervising expiration terms and consumption patterns, in order to ensure that pharmacy stock levels are permanently updated and above minimum safety point.
- In coordination with the project biomedical service supervising the appropriate use of medical devices and anticipating and communicating future needs.
- In close coordination with the Logistics Manager, supervising laboratory outputs related to nursing activities (blood test) to ensure samples are collected correctly and results are provided on time.
- In close coordination with the HR department, planning and supervising the associated processes (recruitment, training, evaluation, development and communication) of the nursing staff of the project in order to improve staff capabilities and ensure both the sizing and the amount of knowledge required. Training nursing staff on PTE.
- Reporting to the line manager on any relevant information linked to nursing activities and participating in monthly reports
MSF Section / Context Specific Accountabilities
- Plan, organizing and follow up the implementation of all nursing related activities in the main interventions of the project, namely nutrition (ATFC, Tom-brown) and ICCM targeting Malaria, Diarrhoea, Simple pneumonia, MUAC screening and vaccination.
- Participate to the definition of the project nursing activities, their planning and associated budget for upcoming years.
- Elaborate periodic (weekly, monthly or quarterly) duty rosters for the nurses and nut assistants, organize their shifts and follow up their leave in a way that keep them motivated and have a calibrated manpower tailored with the outreach nursing care workload.
- Coordinate and ensure the availability, implementation of the guidelines and protocols (e.g: ATFC and nursing care guidelines, IPC protocols), procedures, standards, in a way that aligns with the project objectives.
- Regularly supervise and Provide technical support to nurses, nut assistants, and other staff under her/his responsibility, to ensure the quality of the nursing care, confidentiality and information traceability, patient surveillance, and the application of the therapeutic and sterilization rules by the health care personnel.
- Ensuring all administrative procedures and documents (individual patient’s card and registration book, discharge paper, transfer paper, etc.) and existing data management tools are available and used correctly.
- According to MSF protocols and in collaboration with the Pharmacist and PMR, supervise the distribution (according to medical prescriptions) of PPN, and other medical items in the ATFCs, ICCMs sites and all other facilities operated by MSF in the communities or at the PHCs. Prepare new orders when required, supervising expiration terms and consumption patterns, in order to ensure that pharmacy stock levels are permanently updated and above minimum safety point.
- In coordination with the project or mission biomedical services, supervise the appropriate use of medical devices, their user maintenance, anticipate and communicate future needs.
- Collaborate closely with other Managers NAM ITFC, EH-M, IPC-M, MHAM to ensure proactivity and smooth communication for proper continuity of care to patients, maintaining optimal IPC and Hygiene condition in MSF supported health facilities.
- In close coordination with the Logistic department, nursing and medical activity Managers at the ITFC, organize and execute patient’s referral without any delay.
- In close coordination with the HR department, plan and supervise the associated processes (recruitment, training, evaluation, development and communication) of the nursing staff of the project in order to improve staff capabilities and ensure both the sizing and the amount of knowledge required. Training nursing staff on PTE.
- Maintain a close collaboration with the Ministry of health and engage the communities for their active participation to the project efforts through incentive staff and volunteers and information sharing.
- Reporting to the line manager on any relevant information linked to nursing activities and participating in monthly reports.
- Be flexible to carry out other duties not listed in the current JD but are essential for the fulfillment of the project objectives.
Minimum Required Skills and Qualifications
- Education: Essential Nursing Diploma for general or specialized health services (Bachelor’s in Science of Nursing Desirable); Specialization or training in tropical medicine would be an asset
- Experience: Essential working experience of at least two years in nursing activities related jobs. Desirable working experience in MSF or other NGO’s in developing countries.
- Languages: English essential. Local language (Hausa) desirable.
- Knowledge: Computer literacy (Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook)
