Job Title: NYSC Legal Intern

Location: Victoria Island, Lagos

Employment Type: Internship

Position Overview

  • The NYSC Legal Intern will support the legal department in various capacities, gaining practical experience in legal research, documentation, and administrative tasks.
  • The intern will have the opportunity to work on a range of legal issues and contribute to the overall effectiveness of the legal team.

Responsibilities
Legal Research:

  • Conduct thorough legal research on relevant laws, regulations, and case precedents.
  • Prepare comprehensive research memos and reports to support legal decision-making.

Document Review and Drafting:

  • Assist in drafting, reviewing, and editing legal documents, contracts, agreements, and correspondence.
  • Ensure accuracy and compliance with applicable laws and regulations.

Administrative Support:

  • Organize and maintain legal files, documents, and records.
  • Schedule and coordinate meetings, appointments, and court appearances.

Case Management:

  • Support the legal team in case preparation, including gathering and organizing evidence and documentation.
  • Assist in the preparation of legal briefs, motions, and other court filings.

Client Interaction:

  • Communicate with clients, external counsel, and other stakeholders as needed.
  • Provide updates and information on the status of legal matters.

Compliance and Risk Management:

  • Assist in ensuring the company’s compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies.
  • Participate in risk assessment and mitigation efforts.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Law (LLB) and completion of the Nigerian Law School.
  • Must be currently serving in the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) program.
  • Strong understanding of Nigerian law and legal principles.
  • Excellent research, analytical, and writing skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and legal research tools.
