Job Summary
- The Instrumentation Engineer will design and develop new devices and enhance or redesign older devices used to control electronic or mechanical systems. Analyzes current equipment; identifies areas of inefficiency and needs for improvement; designs and develops instrumentation to meet those needs. Collaborates with other engineers to develop accurate, efficient equipment and instrumentation in accordance with safety and usability standards and client expectations
Responsibilities
- As a Station/Facility Electrical Engineer, you will take an active role in project conceptualization, work planning, and project execution with minimum or no supervision;
- In addition, you may have the opportunity to travel to client/vendors sites as needed;
- You will work on challenging assignments that include investigating, trouble-shooting, and solving a wide variety of electrical engineering issues.
- Ensures that electrical safety is followed, help with employees’ skills development;
- Provide input to the development of the annual maintenance budget and ensure adherence to it;
- Participates in the process for unplanned breaks, shut-downs and is responsible for action plans for automation or electrical issues or faults;
- Decides shut down works in cooperation with mechanical team leader, and technical service leaders.
- Data gathering, Developing project concepts, Construction inspections & administration;
- Develop test plans and protocols, and execute prototype testing and formal design verification testing;
- Design and/or lead design of printed circuit assemblies and electromechanical assemblies, including testing and troubleshooting
- Perform verification activities (both simulation and hardware test) to satisfy the set-objectives
- Define hardware requirements and perform validation
- Determine and maintain adequate stock of spare parts for assigned equipment
- Researches, develops, designs, and tests electrical components, equipment, systems, and networks;
- Develop and maintain documentation for specifications, designs, test plans and reports for inclusion in As-built Design History Files;
- Consult with vendors and suppliers;
- Debug and troubleshoot down to board level. This will include board bring up;
- Establish and follow methodologies;
- Plan and execute project tasks – digital and analog design;
- Present Reports to leadership and Owners as defined in contract.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical & Electronics Engineering, Automation or Related Field
- COREN License;
- NSE
- Familiarity with ANSI/IEEE/NEMA standards as they relate to substation design. This includes the National Electrical Safety Code (ANSI – C2).
- 6 or more years’ experience in the design of Medium Voltage Power Systems
- 10+ years of experience within the oil and gas industry or a highly regulated industry
