Strategic Role Overview
- The Relationship Manager drives strategic client engagement, bespoke financial structuring, and revenue generation across key corporate and institutional portfolios.
- The role involves deep sector expertise, relationship monetization, credit origination, and cross-functional execution in alignment with the bank’s enterprise risk and growth agenda.
- The ideal candidate should possess a strong corporate banking backgroundwith demonstrable experience managing clients within Energy & Power, Conglomerates, FMCG, Fintech & Telecoms, Private Banking, Utilities & Infrastructure, or Project Finance & Advisory.
Core Responsibilities
Client Origination & Portfolio Growth:
- Identify, structure, and onboard high-value corporate clients with scalable revenue potential.
- Deepen wallet share through a full-suite approach—lending, trade finance, structured products, and digital solutions.
- Create tailored banking strategies anchored on clients’ operating models, capital structures, and sector dynamics.
Sector Intelligence & Financial Advisory:
- Conduct detailed sectoral and credit research to support risk-informed lending and investment decisions.
- Advise clients on balance sheet optimization, project finance models, and capital raising options.
- Liaise with advisory teams on bespoke mandates—M&A, syndications, and corporate restructuring.
Credit Structuring & Risk Mitigation:
- Develop bankable credit proposals in compliance with internal risk frameworks and regulatory guidelines.
- Coordinate term sheet negotiations, facility structuring, documentation, and credit approvals.
- Track facility performance, portfolio health, and proactively manage delinquency or covenant triggers.
Relationship & Stakeholder Management:
- Serve as the single point of contact for CXOs, CFOs, and key business decision-makers.
- Facilitate internal collaboration across credit, legal, treasury, and compliance to deliver seamless execution.
- Maintain proactive communication cadence to support renewals, upselling, and customer satisfaction.
Key Requirements
- B.Sc / HND in Finance, Banking, Business Administration, Economics, or related fields (Minimum of Second Class Lower – 2:2).
- 2 – 4 years’ experience in Corporate or Institutional Banking, with active exposure to at least one of the listed industry sectors.
- Strong understanding of corporate credit analysis, financial modelling, and risk-adjusted pricing.
- Proven track record of client origination, revenue generation, and relationship expansion.
- Advanced communication, negotiation, and boardroom presentation skills.
- Working knowledge of banking regulations, IFRS, and CBN prudential guidelines.
- Certifications in finance or credit (e.g., ACIB, CFA Level I/II, CRM) are a strong advantage.
Salary
- Negotiable (Based on experience and portfolio value).
