Job Title: Safety Assistant

Location: Libata, Ngaski LGA – Kebbi

Employment Type: Full-time

Summary

  • As a Safety Assistant, you will support the implementation of safety programs, conduct routine site inspections, and contribute to a safe working environment at our mining site.
  • This role provides hands-on experience in occupational health and safety within the mining sector and a pathway to develop your safety career, working alongside experienced professionals in a dynamic and fast-paced organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with regular safety inspections of surface operations to identify hazards and ensure compliance with safety protocols.
  • Help maintain accurate safety records, including incident logs, inspection reports, and training attendance.
  • Conduct personal protective equipment (PPE) audits and report deficiencies to the Safety Officer.
  • Support the investigation of near-misses and minor incidents, gathering evidence and preparing preliminary reports.
  • Assist in delivering safety orientations and on-the-job training sessions for new and existing staff.
  • Participate in risk assessments and aid in the development of corrective action plans.
  • Monitor site housekeeping and ensure walkways, work areas, and emergency exits are clear.
  • Liaise with operations and maintenance teams to promote a culture of safety and address concerns promptly.
  • Support emergency response drills and assist with first-aid and evacuation procedures as required.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent; Diploma / Degree in Occupational Health & Safety or related field is advantageous.
  • 0 – 2 years of experience in industrial or mining safety roles; internships or site-based safety trainee experience, you are encourage to apply.
  • Basic understanding of mining exploration processes and associated hazards.
  • Familiarity with OHS regulations and MSHA standards is a plus.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (for report reporting).
  • Strong observational, reporting, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varied weather conditions and on-call for emergencies.
  • Valid first-aid/CPR certification or willingness to obtain one.

Salary

  • N70,000 – N100,000 monthly.
