Title: Senior Business Development Specialist

Responsibilities
As a key member of the Global Health Division, your role involves:
- Leading business development initiatives within the Global Health Division, focusing on projects funded by USAID and other significant donors and clients.
- Exploring business prospects in strategic markets, both in countries where RTI already has a presence and in new territories. Advising on the selection of new markets for future projects.
- Identifying, understanding, and nurturing potential clients, including host governments and private sector entities. Evaluating and qualifying partner organizations and potential personnel while assessing competitor activities. Maintaining these relationships and partnerships once established.
- Facilitating the preparation and development of high-quality proposals.
- Mentoring and building the capacity of technical experts and junior staff in business development.
- Serving as a key contributor in proposal development, taking on roles such as proposal lead, section writer, and strategy developer as required.
- Representing the Global Health Division to donors, private sector companies, foundations, professional associations, and voluntary organizations. Identifying opportunities for collaboration and forming partnerships as appropriate. Effectively communicating RTI’s institutional capabilities.
- Identifying and cultivating public-private partnerships (PPPs) and cost-share alliances with private sector, foundation, and non-governmental partners.
- Sharing business development insights with technical divisions and field staff in a timely and transparent manner.
- Participating in broader representation efforts for the International Development Group (IDG) with clients and partners, including networking through RTI institutional memberships, attending relevant events, and promoting RTI within the international development community.
Qualifications
To excel in this role, you should have:
- A Master’s Degree and 3 years of relevant work experience or a Bachelor’s Degree and 5 years of relevant work experience.
- Demonstrated expertise in capturing and supporting the development of successful proposals for USAID.
- Previous experience in and a solid understanding of the global health sector is highly preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
- Demonstrated ability to effectively represent an organization to external audiences.
- Strong coordination and collaboration skills, with a track record of applying them in an international context.
- Exceptional verbal communication skills, capable of conveying complex information to diverse international development stakeholders.
- Excellent writing skills, including proficiency in proposal writing and the ability to present information clearly and concisely.
- Adept at building strong relationships and fostering inclusive collaboration with a wide range of individuals.
- Effective multitasking and prioritization skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Exceptional problem-solving and collaboration abilities.
- Proficiency in MS Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel.
- Familiarity with Salesforce and/or SharePoint is advantageous.
- Willingness and ability to travel internationally for extended periods as necessary.
- Proficiency in French is preferred, and proficiency in other languages such as Spanish and/or Portuguese is a plus.
