Job Title: Senior Counsel

Job Overview
- We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Senior Counsel to join our legal team.
- The ideal candidate will have over 6 years of experience in a reputable law firm, with a proven track record of handling complex legal matters.
- This role requires strong analytical skills, excellent judgment, and the ability to provide strategic legal advice to support the organization’s goals while ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide legal advice and support on a broad range of corporate, commercial, and regulatory matters.
- Draft, review, and negotiate complex contracts, agreements, and other legal documents.
- Manage and oversee litigation, arbitration, and dispute resolution processes, working closely with external counsel where necessary.
- Ensure the company’s compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies.
- Advise senior management on legal risks, business strategies, and potential liabilities.
- Conduct legal research and keep abreast of legislative changes and legal trends that may affect the organization.
- Support mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures, and other corporate transactions, including due diligence and integration processes.
- Lead internal training sessions on legal and compliance-related topics.
- Manage relationships with external legal advisors and regulatory bodies.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to junior legal staff.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Law (LL.B) from a recognized institution; a Master’s Degree or additional certifications (e.g., LLM) is an added advantage.
- Admission to the Bar and in good standing with relevant legal authorities.
- Minimum of 6 years of post-qualification experience in a reputable law firm or corporate legal department.
- Extensive experience in corporate law, contract negotiation, regulatory compliance, and litigation management.

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to convey complex legal concepts to non-legal stakeholders.

- Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Proficiency in using legal research tools and Microsoft Office Suite.
Salary
N500,000 – N800,000 monthly.
