Title: Surveyor

Location: Port Harcourt – Rivers

Employment Type: Full-time

Responsibilities

  • Understand and comply with GOSL’s standard operating procedures and project-specific survey procedures.
  • Configure, operate, and maintain the integrated survey Navigation and Data acquisition systems ensuring geodetic parameters, offsets, C-Os and other settings are entered correctly.
  • Responsible for the correct acquisition and logging of all positioning data (vessel & sensors) and bathymetric data acquired during the survey.
  • Responsible for carrying out calibration/verification activities for survey sensors.
  • Providing data for the production of nautical charts and maps using specialized technical software and survey equipment.
  • Using specialized technical software and geographical information systems (GIS) to manage the integration, processing, and presentation of data to clients;
  • Working in a wide range of different situations and applications: seabed mining, oil and gas exploration, the provision of navigational charts and the positioning of navigational aids, construction survey support, as-built surveys etc.
  • Proper storage of data and keeping a log of all activities
  • Operate the integrated online Navigation and Data Acquisition systems; constantly monitoring the performance and quality of the positioning and seabed mapping systems
  • Maintain and document the operations daily report, vessel offset and other related information throughout project duration
  • Assist with processing of logged survey data, chart production and reporting where required.
  • Liaise with other stakeholders as necessary to ensure that the required level of information and communication is maintained between all functions on the vessel.
  • Operate in accordance with GOSL’s safety management system and operating standards and actively participate in Toolbox Talks, Risk Assessments and contribute to the company’s QHSE Behavioural/Observational systems.

Requirements
Who we are looking for:

  • BSc or HND qualification in Surveying and Geoinformatics, Geology, Geography, Environmental geoscience or Oceanography.
  • 1 – 3 years of working experience as an Offshore Surveyor or in a similar role
  • Early career professionals who share our culture of excellence, inclusion, and collaboration and are looking forward to building a lasting working relationship.
  • The ability to use Land Survey Equipment will be an added advantage.
  • Valid Offshore Survival and medical certificates
  • Strong communication skills with effective English language written and oral skills.
  • Proficiency in Eiva Navisuite, AutoCAD and Microsoft Excel
  • A proactive approach to problem-solving.
