1). Backend Software Engineer
Location: Nigeria (Remote)
Employment Type: Full-time
Here are some things you’ll do
- Build out backend functionality for existing and new product lines such as Credit, Wallet, Bill Pay, and others.
- Integrate with various third-party systems, including payment systems, identity providers, and messaging platforms.
- Scale our backend services and pipelines to ever-growing levels of traffic and complexity.
- Help build flexible and easy-to-use tools used by our operations teams to handle customer inquiries and other business processes.
Minimum Requirements
- You have strong experience (2+ years) of building backend software for web-based or mobile products.
- You are an excellent collaborator and communicator.
- You listen to others and seek to understand, but aren’t afraid to speak your mind and debate in a respectful manner when you disagree.
- You are excited by the prospect of working in a distributed team and company, working with teammates from all over the world.
Preferred Requirements:
- You have a solid foundation in computer science fundamentals, distributed systems, data storage, and agile development methodologies.

2). Machine Learning Engineer
Location: Nigeria (Remote)

Project Examples / Responsibilities
- Credit Decisions – Core to our business is understanding and building signals from unstructured and structured data to identify good borrowers
- Customer Service – Using machine learning, automate customer service interactions and provide context to our customer service team
- Fraud Prevention – Identify patterns of fraudulent behavior and build models to detect and prevent these behaviors
- Product Growth – Understand user experiences, test ideas, and improve conversion rates through experimentation
- Paid Growth / Marketing – Use external and internal data sources to measure and optimize marketing spend
Minimum Requirements
- You excel at software engineering and programming in Python and SQL for production systems.
- You have 5+ years of experience working on Machine Learning systems in a production setting.
- You know that startups are a team sport.

3). Software Engineering Intern

About the Role
- Branch launched in Nigeria in early 2017 and has seen rapid adoption and growth. We are expanding our product portfolio and user base in all our markets including Nigeria, and are more than ever dependent on reliable products and services to achieve our goals.
- We are looking for talented interns to join us and be part of this journey.
- As a Software Engineering Intern, you will work closely with experienced engineers at Branch and make significant contributions to our products and code base for 4-6 months.
- You will brainstorm, design, code, debug, and ship features serving our millions of customers while picking up skills necessary for your career.
Here are some things you’ll do
- Contribute to building functionalities for existing and new product lines and platforms such as Credit, Wallet, Payments, KYC, Data Platforms, etc.
- Integrate with various third-party systems, including payment systems, identity providers, and messaging platforms.
Minimum Requirements
- Have some experience building Backend or Android applications that are more than just toy projects. Applications that have real users or an open source project would be a great plus.
- You have a solid foundation in computer science fundamentals, distributed systems, and data storage.
- Know your way through various flavors of Unix and commonly used command line utilities.
Preferred Requirements
- Proficiency in at least one mainstream language like Python, Ruby, Java, etc.
- You are highly entrepreneurial. You take the initiative to solve problems before they arise.
- You’ve started and/or contributed to projects you’re passionate about.
