Widows and Orphans Empowerment Organization (WEWE), a legally recognized incorporated Trustee, is seeking applications from suitable applicants for the job of Gender Based Violence (GBV) Officer Trainee. WEWE’s basic idea is to be one of the most financially responsible and clean NGOs in Nigeria and Africa, with the goal of improving the lives of millions of widows and orphans.
1). Gender-Based Violence (GBV) Officer
Location: Abuja
Employment Type: Full-time
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- S/he will organize and facilitate a GBV stakeholder Civil Society Organization (CSO) forum/roundtable of national-level actors in GBV in Abuja to discuss the learnings from the community level and how the learning affects the national policies.
- S/he will encourage that these experiences are included in national advocacy on GBV prevention guidelines.
- S/he will develop an agenda with at least five action steps to prevent GBV.
- S/he will encourage these experiences to be included in national advocacy efforts on GBV at the CSO forum in Abuja.
- S/he will organize and facilitate a national learning event with national-level actors in Abuja on GBV prevention
- Carry out any other duties or tasks as assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications and Experience
- First Degree in a relevant field, plus a minimum of 2 years of institutional experience and expertise in Gender-based Violence (GBV).
- First Degree in Social Science, Social Work, Psychology, Public Health, Human Rights, or related Degree desired
- At least 3 years experience in implementing Gender-Based Violence programs, humanitarian or development settings.
- Previous experience organizing a GBV-related workshop with picture evidence.
- Evidence of strong report writing skills.
- Evidence of strong computer skills (MS Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
- Experience in developing survey Google forms using Gmail.
- Experience developing pre and post-testing for workshop.
- Evidence of writing workshop reports.
Required Experience:
- 1 – 2 years of working experience as a Gender-Base Violence (GBV) person or any related role.
- Very strong report-writing skills.
- Strong computer skills.
- Ability to work long hours when needed.
- Strong analytical and research skills.
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills.
- Technology suave i.e., the ability to use social media handles, the internet, and to send emails.
Benefits
The benefits of the trainee position are:
- Between N75,000 – N100,000 monthly and an additional 20% pension.
- After successful performance evaluation, trainees are eligible to apply for full-time positions in WEWE subject to vacancies and availability of funds.

2). Procurement Officer Trainee Program 2023

Are you a talented/award-winning Procurement Personnel? With
- A Second Class Upper (2.1) and above or Upper credit in any social or management science degree?
- Are you currently working in a private local or international firm?
- Are you a Procurement Personnel orstaff that has received awards for best staff or student?
- Do you have an interest in transferring your skills from working in the private sector to the NGO Sector, where you will gain experience working with United States Agency for International Development (USAID)/US Center for Disease Control-funded projects?
- WEWE has a ‘Procurement Officer Trainee Program’ where we offer job training for talented/award-winning procurement persons, who have no experience working as a procurement person for an NGO and would like to gain experience working and learning about procurement issues for NGOs. Also, to understand practical applications ofprocurement for international donor-funded projects: e.g., USAID, US CDC & EU.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- S/he will assist to carry out daily procurement activities
- S/he will assist in full compliance of procurement activities with WEWE rules, regulations, policies, and strategies
- S/he will assist in the preparation of procurement plans and their implementation /monitoring
- S/he assist in organizing procurement meeting including the preparation
- S/he assists to conduct RFQs or RFPs, receipt of quotations, bids or proposals.
- S/he assist to raise the Purchase Request form for all request
- S/he assists to ensure that the products and supplies are high quality
- S/he assists to work with procurement team members to complete duties as needed
- S/he assists to review and analyze all vendors/suppliers, supply, and price options
- S/he assists to create and maintain good relationships with vendors/suppliers
- S/he assist to maintain records of vendors database and other important data
- S/he assists in inventory tracking and update
- S/he assists in administrative activities
- S/he assists staff as needed on creating clear and understandable purchase requests and other documentation.
- S/he assists to ensure that all supplies, services and equipment required are delivered in time
- Carry out any other duties or tasks as assigned by the procurement team lead or Management
Required Qualifications
- Graduate with a Bachelor’s Degree or HND Degree in any Social or Management Science or a relevant field
- Must have a second-class upper or first-class or upper credit or distinction
Required Experience:
- 1 – 2 years of working experience as a Procurement person or any related role.

3). Human Resources (HR)/Corporate Lawyer/Legal Officer Trainee Program 2023

Key Duties and Responsibilities
- S/he will assist in providing in-house legal advisory services; compliance and risk mitigation, and support services through the assessment and development of an effective corporate/legal structure.
- S/he will assist to serve as a Liaison between WEWE Management and the WEWE Board of Trustees.
- S/he will assist to be responsible for all communications and correspondences between WEWE and the Board of Trustees as well as carry out such tasks as may be assigned by the WEWE Board of Trustees.
- S/he will assist to be accountable for taking day-to-day legal responsibilities and providing legal advice that includes all the aspects of the analysis, investigation, and drafting process.
- S/he will assist to be engaged in helping to analyze and collect evidence and schedule staff hearings.
- S/he will assist to conduct legal analysis and research on any legal matters of the organization.
- S/he will assist in the management of the Human Resources Portfolio.
- S/he will assist in orienting all hires by forwarding requirements and criteria to the Human Resource Team and providing information and directions.
- S/he will assist to verify candidates’ backgrounds by contacting references.
- S/he will assist to enroll new employees by issuing forms and verifying completion.
- S/he will assist employees by explaining benefit programs.
- S/he will assist to accomplish human resources and organization mission by completing related tasks as needed.
- S/he will assist in handling all pre-employment, employment, and post-employment relations needs of projects.
- S/he will assist in handling the arrangement of tests, interviews, and chats with prospective hires.
- S/he will assist in performing cross-cutting functions of responding to queries on salaries, wages, leave requests, and other related activities.
- S/he will assist to maintain the organization and employees’ confidence by keeping human resources information confidential.
- S/he will assist to maintain human resources records by appropriately filing applications, CVs, and applicant logs in line with WEWE’s processes and procedures.
- S/he will assist to carry out shortlisting and sorting of applications.
- And any other assigned responsibilities by the Supervisor
Required Qualifications
