Description
- The Videographer/Photographer (Volunteer) role is strictly a free service to humanity.
- It is designed for skilled media professionals who are passionate and willing to selflessly offer their photography and videography expertise to serve vulnerable communities.
- There is no financial compensation attached to this position.
Job Summary
- ARISE is looking to engage a talented and creative Videographer/Photographer to document upcoming events that centers on youth and women empowerment, with a strong focus on advocacy around gender-based issues.
- This short-term role is ideal for a professional with a keen eye for visual storytelling and technical expertise in both photography and videography, and who can dedicate at least two sessions per week (approximately 3–4 hours each) to support content creation and event coverage.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Conduct a site visit or virtual assessment to review lighting, angles, and visual layout.
- Set up and test all audiovisual equipment (cameras, lighting, microphones, power backups, memory devices, etc.).
- Capture high-quality photos and video footage of key moments including speeches, ceremonies, and interactions with dignitaries and stakeholders.
- Record short interviews with speakers, organizers, or attendees.
- Deliver a professionally edited 2–4-minute highlight video and a set of polished photos.
- Ensure all content is delivered within 2 working days post-event.
- Maintain ethical representation, ensuring all visuals reflect respect, dignity, and sensitivity—particularly in the context of gender-based violence.
- Carry out any additional assignments provided by the supervisor.
Collaboration & Coordination:
- Work with communications and program teams to ensure each video aligns with campaign themes.
- Contribute creative ideas in brainstorming sessions.
Qualification and Requirements
- Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree or HND in English, Linguistics, Mass Communication, Journalism, or a related Social Science discipline with 0 – 2 years work experience.
- Ownership of a professional-grade camera and equipment is mandatory for this role.
- Additional certifications in communication, multimedia production, or a related technical field are a strong advantage.
- Must be able to work independently, manage time effectively, and meet tight deadlines.
Experience & Skills Required:
- Demonstrated ability to shoot and edit high-quality still photographs and videos.
- Experience in live video/audio streaming using various platforms.
- Skilled in converting raw footage (captured via camera or mobile devices) into compelling short stories suitable for social media.
- Proficiency in video and image editing tools such as:
- Adobe Creative Suite (Premiere Pro, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign)
- CorelDraw, Canva, and Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong grasp of digital media platforms including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube, LinkedIn, WhatsApp, Mailchimp, and Google Forms.
- Excellent command of written and spoken English, with the ability to conduct basic interviews and write engaging captions or summaries.
- Creativity, attention to detail, and the ability to deliver high-quality work efficiently are essential.
