Job Description
- We are seeking a detail-oriented and results-driven Account Officer to manage financial transactions, maintain accurate records, and ensure compliance with financial policies within our fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) company.
- The ideal candidate will oversee account reconciliation, manage customer accounts, support credit control, and collaborate with sales and finance teams to optimize financial processes.
Responsibilities
Financial Management & Reporting:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, including accounts payable and receivable.
- Prepare financial statements, reports, and reconciliations in line with company policies.
- Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
- Ensure timely processing of invoices, payments, and receipts.
Account Reconciliation & Credit Control:
- Reconcile customer and supplier accounts to ensure accuracy.
- Monitor outstanding payments and follow up on overdue accounts.
- Assist in credit risk assessment and ensure compliance with credit policies.
- Work closely with the sales team to resolve disputes and discrepancies.
Compliance & Internal Controls:
- Ensure all financial transactions comply with company policies and industry regulations.
- Support internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation.
- Implement internal controls to prevent fraud and financial mismanagement.
Collaboration & Process Improvement:
- Work closely with sales, procurement, and finance teams to streamline financial operations.
- Support process automation and improvements in financial reporting.
- Provide insights and recommendations to enhance financial performance.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
- 3–6 years of experience in accounting, preferably in the FMCG industry.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Tally, SAP, QuickBooks, or other ERP systems).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to work under pressure.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of tax regulations, financial reporting standards, and credit management.
- Professional certification (e.g., ACCA, ICAN, CPA) is an added advantage.
- Experience working with distributors and retailers in FMCG.
