Job Title: Accountant

Location: Ikeja, Lagos

Job Purpose

  • The Accountant will manage the financial operations of the businesses, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with all financial regulations.
  • This role involves overseeing financial transactions, preparing reports, managing budgets, and ensuring the business’s profitability through strategic financial management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and provide insights and analysis on financial trends, variances, and business performance.
  • Prepare detailed budgets and forecasts in alignment with business goals.
  • Maintain the general ledger, ensuring the accuracy of financial entries.
  • Perform reconciliations for bank accounts, suppliers, and customer accounts.
  • Monitor operational costs and suggest cost-saving strategies.
  • Collaborate with department heads to establish and monitor budgets. Track departmental spending and highlight areas of inefficiency.
  • Ensure all expenses, including payroll and supplier payments, are processed accurately and on time.
  • Ensure 100% compliance with all tax regulations including PAYE, Consumption tax, VAT, WHT and other statutory requirements.
  • Liaise with external auditors, tax authorities, and regulatory bodies during audits and inspections.
  • Manage cash flow to ensure adequate liquidity for day-to-day operations, monitor cash balances and prepare cash flow forecasts.
  • Collaborate with inventory and store managers to ensure proper inventory reporting.
  • Use accounting software to manage and maintain financial records.
  • Assist with implementing financial systems and procedures to enhance operational efficiency.

Qualifications and Skills

  • B.Sc. Degree in Finance related field, ICAN/ACCA is an added advantage.
  • 3-4 years of experience in accounting, preferably in the hospitality industry.
  • Proficient in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero, or similar).
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and other financial tools.
  • Strong knowledge of financial reporting and tax regulations.
