Job Title: Assistant Irrigation Manager
Location: Sunti, Niger

Job Summary
- The Assistant Irrigation Manager will support the Irrigation Manager in the installation, maintenance, and management of irrigation systems across the estate.
- The role involves overseeing irrigation system operations, ensuring efficient water use, and assisting with various irrigation projects to meet agricultural production goals.
Responsibilities
- System Installation: Plan and oversee the installation of irrigation systems to ensure they are completed within the set deadlines.
- Scheduling: Assist in developing irrigation schedules based on field requirements, harvesting schedules, and environmental factors.
- System Setup: Supervise and assist with the installation of centre pivots, pump sets, pipelines, and fittings.
- Construction Supervision: Oversee civil works related to pump station construction, canal building, and culvert installation.
- System Upkeep: Supervise maintenance activities on pump sets, centre pivots, sprinkler systems, and pipelines.
- Field Scheduling: Assist in scheduling irrigation for fields, considering harvesting schedules, evaporation statistics, and soil water holding capacities.
- Skills Development: Provide training on irrigation scheduling, efficiency, and maintenance of irrigation structures.
Requirements
- A degree in Agricultural Engineering, or a minimum of 2 years of experience in irrigation installation.
- Added advantage: Experience working in remote regions in developing projects
- 2 Year cognate experience.
The Person Must:
- Have knowledge of sustainable agriculture practices.
- Be familiar with precision irrigation technologies (eg drip irrigation, precision sprinkles, etc)
- Understand crop physiology and water requirements.
- Be familiar with irrigation design and management.
- Have good communication and collaboration skills.
