Job Title: Business Manager

Job Summary

  • The Business Manager will collaborate closely with the Executive Director to drive operational efficiency and alignment across key enabling functions, excluding IT.
  • This role integrates strategic oversight with hands-on management of Finance, Human Resources, IDEAS, Litigation, and Audit, ensuring these departments operate cohesively to support the organization’s objectives.
  • The Business Manager will play a pivotal role in bridging leadership and operational teams, fostering collaboration and consistency to enhance overall organizational performance.

Responsibilities
Leadership and Representation:

  • Collaborate with the Executive Director in goal setting and strategy articulation process for the business, byproviding specific insights, trends, and ideas that will drive business growth and profitability.
  • Cascade the goals and strategies for the business into day-to-day operational plans and provide directionsand guidelines to each support team/unit responsible for executing the plans.
  • Provide strategic oversight of all support departments, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives.
  • Act as the intermediary between department heads and the Executive Director, fostering seamlesscommunication.

Operational Management:

  • Oversee and ensure the efficiency of the Finance, HR, IDEAS, Litigation, and Audit functions.
  • Collaborate with the General Manager/Branch Managers to align operational strategies with businessobjectives.
  • Develop and implement systems to monitor organizational performance and compliance with internalpolicies and external regulations.

Financial Oversight:

  • Support the Finance department in budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
  • Ensure proper financial controls and compliance with all regulatory requirements.

People and Organizational Development (HR):

  • Oversee the HR department, focusing on talent acquisition, development, and retention strategies.
  • Drive initiatives to enhance employee engagement and organizational culture.

Audit and Litigation Management:

  • Work with the Audit and Litigation teams to manage risks, resolve legal matters, and ensure compliance.
  • Review audit reports and ensure timely implementation of recommendations.

Innovation, Digital Enablement, and Analytics (IDEA) team:

  • Support the IDEAS department to drive innovation and continuous improvement across the organization.
  • Support the design and execution of new initiatives and strategies for growth.

Project Management:

  • Plan, execute, and oversee key projects, such as new service launches, system integrations, or process improvements.
  • Establish project goals, timelines, and budgets, and ensure successful delivery.
  • Coordinate cross-functional teams to achieve project objectives.
  • Monitor project progress and address challenges proactively to stay on track.

Reporting and Accountability:

  • Prepare and present operational reports to the Executive Director/CEO.
  • Ensure all departments under the role’s purview meet their KPIs and performance targets.

Key Result Areas

  • Operational Excellence: Timeliness and quality of deliverables from HR, Finance, IDEAS, Litigation, and Auditteams.
  • Strategic Alignment: Successful implementation of strategies and alignment with organizational objectives.
  • Financial Performance: Adherence to budgets, cost management, and financial reporting standards.
  • Employee Engagement: Improvements in staff satisfaction, retention, and development metrics.
  • Compliance: Audit and regulatory compliance across all functions.
  • Innovation: Number and impact of new initiatives developed and executed.

Key Requirements
Education & Qualifications

  • Candidates should possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Management or a related field
  • MBA is required.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in hospitality, with a significant portion of this time spent in leadership roles
  • Proven strategic and critical thinking.
  • Proven problem-solving and decision making.
  • Strong financial Acumen, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong project management skills.
