Job Description
- As a Senior Electrical Technician, you will be responsible for the maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of electrical systems critical to the safe and efficient operation of the facility.
- This role requires a high level of technical expertise in electrical systems, a keen attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a challenging offshore environment.
Responsibilities
- Conduct routine inspections, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems including power distribution, switchgear, motors, generators, transformers, and control systems.
- Perform troubleshooting and diagnostic tests on electrical equipment to identify and resolve issues promptly, minimizing downtime and ensuring operational efficiency.
- Coordinate with other departments such as instrumentation, mechanical, and operations to ensure integrated functioning of electrical systems.
- Implement preventive maintenance programs to ensure equipment reliability and compliance with regulatory standards.
- Participate in the planning and execution of electrical system upgrades, modifications, and installations.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, equipment performance, and inventory levels for electrical spare parts and components.
- Provide technical guidance and support to junior technicians and assist in their training and development.
- Monitor electrical parameters and alarms, implementing corrective actions as needed to maintain safe and efficient operations.
- Follow established safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment for oneself and the team.
- Collaborate with vendors and contractors as needed for specialized repairs, spare parts procurement, and technical support.
- Stay updated on industry best practices, new technologies, and regulatory requirements related to electrical systems in offshore environments.
- Actively participate in emergency response drills and procedures to ensure readiness for any potential incidents.
Profile
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Electrical Engineering or related field preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience working as an Electrical Technician in the offshore oil and gas industry, with specific experience on FPSOs preferred.
- Strong knowledge of electrical systems, including power distribution, motor controls, protective relays, and electrical codes and standards.
- Proficiency in reading electrical schematics, diagrams, and drawings.
- Hands-on experience with electrical testing and diagnostic equipment, as well as maintenance tools.
- Familiarity with relevant regulatory standards and safety protocols (e.g., API, ISO, HSE).
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a multicultural team.
- Physical fitness and willingness to work in challenging offshore conditions for extended periods.
