Location: Lagos Mainland, Lagos

Job Description

  • A credit officer is responsible for evaluating and approving or denying loan applications for individuals or businesses.
  • This job requires a high level of attention to detail and the ability to analyze financial information.
  • The credit officer must be able to make informed decisions about the risk involved in lending money and must be able to communicate those decisions effectively to both clients and colleagues.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate loan applications by analyzing financial information such as credit reports, income statements, and asset statements
  • Monitor the creditworthiness of existing borrowers and take appropriate action if there are any changes in their financial status
  • Stay up-to-date on industry trends and regulations related to lending practices
  • Collaborate with colleagues and management to develop strategies for improving the credit approval process
  • Prepare reports and presentations for management and board meetings
  • Determine the appropriate risk level for loans and make decisions about whether to approve or deny applications
  • Communicate decisions to clients and provide feedback on how to improve their chances of approval in the future

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Economics, and any other field
  • Attention to detail and the ability to work under pressure
  • Familiarity with financial software and tools, such as Excel and loan origination systems
  • Preference would be given to candidates who are 30 years old or younger.
  • 0-2 years of experience in a credit-related role
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
