Job Title: Hospital Accountant

Location: Ibadan, Oyo

Employment Type: Full-time

Reports to: Chief Financial Officer (CFO)

Job Summary

  • The Hospital Accountant is responsible for managing and overseeing the financial operations of the hospital, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • This role requires strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills.

Key Responsibilities
Financial Management:

  • Prepare and analyze financial statements (balance sheet, income statement, cash flow).
  • Manage accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger.
  • Develop and implement financial policies and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and healthcare regulations.

Budgeting and Forecasting:

  • Participate in budget preparation and financial planning.
  • Analyze financial performance against budget and forecast.
  • Identify areas for cost reduction and process improvement.

Revenue Cycle Management:

  • Oversee patient billing, insurance claims, and collections.
  • Monitor and address denied claims and revenue cycle issues.

Auditing and Compliance:

  • Coordinate audits.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Identify and mitigate financial risks.

Reporting and Analysis:

  • Prepare financial reports for management and stakeholders.
  • Analyze financial data to inform business decisions.
  • Develop and maintain key performance indicators (KPIs).

Team Management:

  • Supervise accounting staff.
  • Provide training and guidance on financial procedures.
  • Evaluate staff performance.

Other Responsibilities:

  • Participate in financial planning and strategy development.
  • Collaborate with departments on financial matters.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and regulatory changes.

Requirements
Education:

  • HND / Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • Certified Accountant or ICAN membership preferred.

Experience:

  • 3-5 years of accounting experience in healthcare.
  • Hospital or healthcare finance experience preferred.

Skills:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in accounting software
  • Knowledge of healthcare regulations and compliance( Good to have)

Working Conditions

  • Serene Office environment.
  • Occasional travel for training or conferences.

Salary
N130,000 – N180,000 / month.
