1). Training Officer

Duration: 1-year renewable contract

Duties

  • Oversee Youth Training in Kaduna State: Take the lead in managing and executing youth training programs within Kaduna State.
  • Coordination of Partner Efforts: Coordinate the collaborative efforts of all identified partners involved in contributing to the training activities within Kaduna State.
  • Trainee Cohort Selection: Assist in the selection of trainee cohorts and maintain the trainee database.
  • Site Identification and Screening: Participate in the identification and screening of suitable training and incubation sites.
  • Equipment Needs Assessment: Determine the equipment requirements for training sites and provide recommendations for upgrades.
  • Trainer Development: Lead the training of trainers for identified facilitators, ensuring they are well-prepared for their roles.
  • Integration of Agricultural Technologies: Incorporate advanced agricultural technologies into the training curriculum, attachments, and incubation processes.
  • Curriculum Development: Contribute to the development of a curriculum that aligns with private sector needs and meets competency standards.
  • Supervision and Monitoring: Oversee and monitor the progress of trained youths in collaboration with the M/E officer(s).
  • Reporting: Assist the State Coordinator in preparing training and activity progress reports, as well as other required reports from various locations.
  • Additional Responsibilities: Undertake any other job-related duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Requirements

  • Education: A B.Sc or HND in Agriculture Extension or Social Science-related fields.
  • Experience: Minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience in a well-structured environment.

Competencies

  • Computer Proficiency: Be adept in using computer-based control systems, shared network drives, and Excel packages.
  • Youth Engagement: Have experience working with youths and a demonstrated ability to engage with them effectively.

2). News Reporter

Responsibilities

  • Cover and document events and stories for Radio IITA, including live reports.
  • Conduct and schedule news interviews.
  • Develop news stories.
  • Establish and maintain contacts within the news industry.
  • Write, edit, submit copies, and attend news events.
  • Verify statements and facts through proofreading.
  • Produce radio, web, and broadcast news reports through field recording and editing.
  • Manage news department files, including a digital archive of broadcast stories.
  • Deliver news stories from the reader’s perspective.
  • Publish or broadcast news stories.
  • Adhere to the ethical standards and codes of journalism.
  • Maintain thorough notes and audio recordings.
  • Collaborate with reporters, chief editor, producers, and others.
  • Perform any other job-related tasks as assigned by Supervisors.

Requirements

  • Candidates should hold a B.Sc / HND in Mass Communication, Communication and Language Arts, or a related field, with a minimum of two (2) years’ experience in a similar role within a well-structured environment.

3). Proposal Coordination Officer

Location: Ibadan, Oyo
Contract: 3-year renewable contract

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Unit Head to proactively search various sources, such as donor websites, funding databases, and subscribed search tools/platforms, to identify potential funding opportunities, Requests for Proposals, and Expressions of Interest aligning with IITA’s mandate and strategic goals.
  • Assist in publishing and circulating identified calls to scientists and relevant teams, including summarizing call guidelines and inputting information into the proposal call automation system.
  • Coordinate internal registration processes for proposals, ensuring timely completion of proposal/project summary forms by following up with scientists and proposal teams.
  • Support scientists and project teams in navigating the proposal call automation system, including resolving technical issues in collaboration with the Software Systems team.
  • Collaborate with interrelated teams to facilitate the processing of necessary supporting documents/information (e.g., Support Letters, Letters of Intent, due diligence forms) required for proposal submissions.
  • Extract donor intelligence and maintain a database of key donors, reporting on emerging trends, priorities, funding cycles, and application procedures to inform IITA’s and CGIAR’s strategic resource mobilization efforts.
  • Ensure the functionality of subscribed proposal search tools (e.g., DevAID, Fund4NGO).
  • Assist the Unit Head in generating regular management reports and updates on IITA’s resource mobilization progress, including proposal submissions, funding success rates, and the proposal pipeline.
  • Keep team members informed of administrative information necessary for proposal development.
  • Coordinate the preparation of weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports on searched and published calls for proposals.
  • Represent the Unit Head in donor debriefings, FAQ sessions, workshops, and networking events to stay current on funding trends and foster collaborations.
  • Support in tracking donor feedback on submitted proposals and maintain the unit’s intranet platform with relevant policy documents, workflows, templates, checklists, and manuals for future reference.
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure that project development information and documentation are up-to-date and accurately maintained in the project database.
  • Work with cross-functional teams, including scientists, Finance, Legal, People and Culture, Communications, and relevant teams, to ensure the submission of high-quality and impactful proposals meeting donor requirements.
  • Provide guidance and training to project teams and partners on effective proposal development and resource mobilization strategies.
  • Support the establishment of performance metrics for proposal success, track outcomes, and provide insights for improvement.
  • Perform any other job-related duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in International Development, Agricultural Economics, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of six (6) years’ experience working in agricultural and multicultural organizations, with a proven track record in proposal development, resource mobilization, or related roles in an international development context.

  • Demonstrate proven experience in proposal coordination, project management, or related roles.
  • Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex ideas clearly and concisely.
