Center for Advocacy Transparency and Accountability Initiative (CATAI) is a youth-led organization working in the North East of Nigeria to provide humanitarian aid to IDPs and other very vulnerable populations. With its headquarters in Maiduguri, Borno State, the organization was founded and registered as an NGO in 2018. We have been active in Borno Adamawa and Yobe (BAY) states, working on programs related to governance, community empowerment, livelihood, environment, and health. Our strategy is in line with our objective to improve service delivery and empower residents, with the goal of creating a future in which even those living in the most distant regions of the world can access the necessities of life. the principles of sustainability, partnership, integrity, and result-based thinking.
1). Human Resources Intern
Location: Maiduguri, Borno
Employment Type: Internship
General Description of Role
- Within the Center for Advocacy Transparency and Accountability Initiative (CATAI), the human resource department is in charge of creating and putting into place efficient HR policies, procedures, and humane guidelines.
- This covers, but is not limited to, talent acquisition and development, employee engagement coordination, management of national training and learning, compensation and benefits administration, performance management oversight, disciplinary and grievance handling, staff data management, and staff disengagement management.
- The HR Intern position has been created to fill a gap in the department and support the HR Officer on HR-related tasks, including but not limited to; ensuring completion of employee documentation, HR administration and filing as well as documenting all performance actions and ensuring compliance with relevant company and labor practices; and ensuring current maintenance of personnel files, database as well as other personnel-related records.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure all job files and personnel files are populated appropriately
- Maintain digital and electronic records of personnel and job files
- Provide event management support during clinics, retreats, training sessions & events
- Support the team to perform files audit and request for outstanding documents required in the personnel and job files
- Filing of all papers and documents into appropriate employee files, prepare new employee files. Collate all approved leave forms, maintain a database for staff benefits such as Staff Health Insurance Plan
- Support the department by updating records of new and exited staff.
- Schedule meetings, HR events, maintain agendas and active calendar management
- Keep up-to-date with the latest HR trends and best practice.
- Provide general and clerical support to the HR department and other duties as required
Required Educational Qualifications, Experiences, Technical Skills and Language Competence
- A minimum of HND / Bachelor’s Degree in a Social Science.
- 1 year work experience.
- A demonstrated ability to and process information into action in a timely manner
- Possess positive attitude, Demonstrated integrity, confidentiality and approachability
- Works well under pressure, to accurately follow instructions and meets tight deadlines
- Ability to use the following Microsoft Productivity tools: Excel and Word
- Ability to express oneself through excellent communication skills: Verbal and Written
- Fluency in English Language.

2). Programme/Communication Intern
Location: Maiduguri, Borno
Employment Type: Internship
General Description of Role
- Given the above background particularly the goal of the communication strategy, the intern will support the staff to meet the increasing strategic communication with donors, partners and communities to ensure visibility of project activities and advocacies for CATAI.
Key Responsibilities
- Working with programme teams to document impact stories for further sharing and profiling the organisation’s work to effectively draw lessons and in line with CATAI policies.
- Compiling quarterly newsletters and bi-monthly bulletins
- Designing and coordinating the production of IEC materials (such as t-shirts, banners, documentaries, photos, posters, flyers and brochures) by working closely with service providers and the procurement team.
- Working with the communication team in planning and organizing internal and public events as well as outreach meetings in line with the CATAI strategic priorities.
- Participation in promoting CATAI visibility on existing organizational platforms and approved social media sites
- Make posts of impact stories documented (along with photos and/or video clips).
- Write donor communications reports as desired.
- Cover of project activities, public events, coordination meetings, sensitisations, advocacies and other events are required.
- Support the management of CATAI of social media handles.
- Perform any other related duties as requested.
Required Educational Qualifications, Experiences, Technical Skills and Language Competence
- A Degree in Mass Communications, Law, Journalism, Social Sciences, Media or related field.
- 1 year of experience working in the humanitarian setting.
- Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills including good listening skills, influencing, negotiation and coaching
- Capacity to build and maintain relationships and to work effectively in a multicultural and multi-ethnic environment respecting diversity.
- Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
- Fluency in English with excellent writing and speaking skills is required.

3). Logistics Intern
Location: Maiduguri, Borno
Employment Type: Internship
General Description of Role
- The Logistics Intern will support general inventory management, ensure effective office supplies, support filing, archiving and processing of payments and externally communicate with suppliers and vendors with regards to the exchange of information and support the receipt process of supplies.
Key Responsibilities
- Support in all logistics activities; inventory management, stock management, tracking of materials and related commodities.
- Support to register and conduct a preliminary review of inventory and keeping of database of trackers.
- Conduct periodic inventory and stock count.
- Scrutinize, troubleshoot and report any discrepancies as it relates to logistics of stock and related commodities.
- Support in the management of relationships with operations personnel, programs and other stakeholders to ensure seamless monitoring, receipt, warehousing and distribution of commodities and related materials.
- Consolidate and submit on monthly basis stock reports for the capital.
- Document, flag and report discrepancies where applicable.
- Support the process of archiving for all other logistics documents.
- Support the reorganization and classification of PD’s folders.
- Support the process of PO verification and Control by identifying missing documents using the checklist.
- Check all documents to ensure that the filling is correctly done and set up corrections or add missing data.
- Support the processing of payments for submission to finance.
- Perform any other related duties as requested.
Required Educational Qualification, Experiences, Technical Skills and Language Competence
- Bachelor’s Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain or related field.
- One (1) year of experience working in Procurement/admin
- Fluency in English with excellent writing and speaking skills is required.
- Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
- Excellent attention to detail, highly organized, a rigorous, self-motivated, strong sense of responsibility, ability to work independently.
- Hardworking, flexible, and able to work collaboratively within a team.
- A motivated and problem-solving individual with high levels of initiative.
