1). Finance Intern

Location: Abuja

Contract Type: Locally Engaged

Duration: 6 months

Role Purpose

  • The Finance team is looking to engage interns to support the financial control team in carrying out basic tasks that will support them in gaining field experience and learn essential industry skills.
  • The intern will have the opportunity to put to practice their accounting knowledge and skills in a professional setting as they gain more experience to further their career in the field.

Duties and Responsibilities
Under the overall guidance of the Senior Financial Accountant (SFA), the duties will include but not limited to:

  • Finance administrative support.
  • Support AP and AR accountant.
  • Support in filling monthly tax returns with relevant tax authorities.
  • Prepare financial documents and journal entries for accuracy.
  • All other tasks as may be assigned by the SFA.

Learning and development opportunities for the intern:

  • The intern will have an opportunity to gain hands-on accounting experience and learn about the various aspects of the accounting function in a multinational organisation
  • Develop a whole new set of cross-disciplinary skills for your future career.
  • Becoming familiar with working in an International Organization and in a multicultural environment
  • Introduction and experience working with SAP

Management and Support for the role:

  • The intern will report to the Senior Financial Accountant based in Lagos.
  • S/he will be expected to work closely with other members of the Finance team.

Profile of Intern
The ideal candidate should:

Essential:

  • Bachelor’s Degree.
  • Basic knowledge of MsWord and MsExcel.
  • Interpersonal skills, including written and verbal communication.
  • The ability to be discreet when handling sensitive financial information.
  • A willingness to learn.
  • Detail-oriented.
  • Analytical skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.

Desirable:

  • Experience in development of statistics, charts in Excel.

Other Requirements:

  • All applicants should have a pre-existing legal status to live and work in country of application.
  • The British Council will not facilitate/sponsor visa applications and work permits.

Remuneration and Benefits

  • The intern will be paid equivalent N130,000 Per month
  • Health Insurance (HMO) will be provided for interns who are on 6 months or more
  • Group Life Insurance will be provided for all interns during throughout the duration of their internship.

3). Facilities/Resourcing Manager

Location: Abuja
Employment Type: Contract
Contract Type:8 months fixed term contract
Pay Band: Pay band 6

Role Purpose 

  • To provide accurate and timely administrative and operational support to the project and the Nigeria Facilities Functions in the area of procurement, master data management, contracts database management, supplier management process and effective and efficient planning, management, delivery and evaluation of facilities, estate.

Main accountabilities
This post will have the following core functions:

Facilities Management:

  • Taking prioritised and planned approach to deployment of the Facilities activities ensuring the premises and facilities are in full working order at all times and meet the aspirations of the Country Plan.
  • Taking a planned approach to ensure that maintenance services are predominantly PPM-based and proactive, with reactive maintenance being an exceptional service.

Asset and Fleet Management:

  • Ensuring acquisition of capital assets is planned and that assets are set up, capitalised and disposed of correctly.
  • Ensure inventories are kept up-to-date, storage is appropriately secure, and disposal is managed according to policy.
  • Manages fuel supplies, and vehicles to ensure efficient consumption and minimise risk of fuel loss through fraud.

Procurement:

  • Ensuring procurement exercises undertaken for the function and on behalf of the wider office meet policy, standards and compliance needs in full, liasing closely with the procurement function.

Supplier Management:

  • Managing vendor performance to clear, agreed SLA requirements, with follow-up evaluation meetings set in line with the nature of the service and/or contract.

Budget Management:

  • Managing assigned budgets in line with expectations.
  • Plans, profiles, reforecasts and commentaries will be written and delivered to timeline, and budgets managed to target.
  • Planning will take into account best value-for-money ‘intelligent spend’ principles.

Logistics Management:

  • Manage all administrative processes required for provision of hotel accommodations and flight tickets for programme staff and consultants.
  • Facilitate all clearances necessary to ensure effective entry, presence and exit of International staff and consultants.

Events Management:

  • Provide Facilities and administrative – related support to the wider teams to ensure events are adequately supported and present the British Council in line with Project Plan aspirations.

Role specific knowledge and experience
Minimum requirements:

  • First Degree in relevant field with a minimum of five years relevant experience
  • Member of the Nigerian Institution of Estate Surveyors & Valuers, International Facility Management Association (IFMA) or The Institute of Workplace Management (IWFM)
  • Office management and maintenance experience.
  • Administrative and Logistics skills with demonstrable attention to details.
  • Asset and fleet management experience
  • Experience working within Facilities Management Framework.
  • Inventory management experience
  • Budget Management experience.

Language requirements:

  • Strong written and oral English communication skills.

Remuneration
N10,989,828.00 gross per annum.
