1). Nutrition and Health Officer

Job Summary

  • We are currently looking to fill the role of Nutrition and Health Officer, who will be responsible for the day-to-day implementation and completion of Nutrition and Health project activities throughout the project life cycle.

Key Responsibilities

  • Update tracking tool to monitor programme screening-based data on acute malnutrition; collect health facility-based disease surveillance reports and update morbidity reporting tool for assigned health facilities/LGAs.
  • Participate with M&E team in supervision of data collection for Nutrition and Health assessments.
  • Liaise with Nutrition and Health Assistants for accessing community support group and health facility database on a regular basis and updating overall health facility-based activities.
  • Ensure that all health facilities/sites have adequate supplies to delivery uninterrupted health care services through identifying needs, informing line manager on regular basis.
  • Support the Nutrition and Health Programme Manager in organizing LGA based coordination meeting.
  • Ensure that all children and patients visiting ACF supported health facilities are properly examined and treated according to national health and nutritional protocols and standards.
  • Identify gaps for WASH in health facilities and inform the Nutrition and Health Programme Manager on a regular basis.
  • Responsible for the performance and professional development of Nutrition Assistants and community-based health promoters.
  • On a monthly basis, reviews flip chart lesson plans with Nutrition Assistants and health promoters and ensure they understand the information well and can teach the information in a participatory manner.
  • Maintain and update database for health workers, community health workers/volunteers, trainings and share with line manager.
  • Prepare consolidated tracking tool for supportive supervision visits/on-job coaching sessions and share with line manager.
  • Regularly report and coordinate with line manager regarding challenges, issues faced in the field for timely and appropriate decision-making.

Position Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing, Midwifery, Public Health or other relevant qualifications with experience in Public Health and CMAM programming.
  • Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in primary health care program.
  • An excellent report-writing skill is required including MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Fluent in written and spoken English and Hausa.
  • Good communication and Interpersonal skills.
  • Team management experience with similar programs.
  • Ability to observe and to provide feedback on the activities.
  • Ability to manage staff according to local culture and organization policies.

Starting Basic Salary

  • NGN326,033 Per month (excluding other benefits).

2). WASH Engineer

Job Summary

  • We are currently looking to fill the role of a WASH Engineer, who will be responsible to ensure the sustainable implementation of WASH technical activities in Monguno.

Key Responsibilities

  • Visiting sites and ensure quality assurance of  WASH construction being delivered and adherence to design specifications;
  • Assist the line manager in the selection, design and construction of water systems, using ground water or surface water, including abstraction, storage, treatment and distribution for new systems or rehabilitation of existing systems;
  • Provide technical assistance to the Line manager to assess sanitation needs, and design and implement the most appropriate form of sanitation system, in consultation with male and female beneficiaries, which includes excreta disposal, refuse disposal, vector control and drainage;
  • Considering different maintenance mechanisms, ensuring that they are appropriate to the local context and cultural norms and that facilities are sustainable in collaboration with the relevant stakeholders;
  • Preparing training tools on relevant technical topics and conduct trainings for both internal staff and external stakeholders;
  • Assisting the line manager in the development of technical guidelines and tools;
  • Assessing areas for improvement and recording lessons learnt for future activities;
  • Responsible for managing WASH technical assistance and technicians;
  • Liaising closely with the WASH PHP team and relevant stakeholders throughout the planning, design and implementation stages of the WASH technical activities;
  • Ensuring that effective communication and networking is developed and maintained through partnership and collaboration;
  • Working with local Government and sectoral stakeholders/counterparts to exchange information on WASH technical implementation status;
  • Ensure the involvement of state ministry of water resources and update the borehole database together with NIHSA/SMWR/RUWSA.

Position Requirements

  • Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree / HND in Water engineering, Hydrology, Civil Engineering, Building and other related fields.
  • Previous experience in supervising drilling and construction activities.
  • Capacity to be flexible and adaptable.
  • Three years relevant work experience.
  • Microsoft Office and designing software Skills (AutoCAD, Outlook, Excel, Power Point, Word).
  • Willing and able to be based and travel regularly within remote areas, where services are limited.
  • Fluency in Hausa and English.

Starting Basic Salary

  • NGN421,594 Per month (excluding other benefits).
  • Other benefits include but not limited to 100% health care coverage, free and direct access to Cross Knowledge e-learning platform.
