Main Activities

  • Making sure that all equipment is working properly by running tests and diagnosing problems.
  • Monitor equipment conditions using all indications available in the control room, on site, and portable test equipment.
  • Inspect plant and equipment and prepare defect reports; ensure maintenance requests are completed to a satisfactory standard; assist in planning, organizing, and executing unit outages for inspections, overhauls, repairs, and cleaning.
  • Read, interpret, and implement technical information found in manufacturer’s and OEM technical manuals, electrical and mechanical P & IDs, and operating and maintenance procedures.
  • Participate in ongoing training to maintain and enhance the skills required to perform all Unit Operator and Equipment Operator duties and assist in the training of others.

Operations:

  • Conduct shift change by fully briefing the incoming Unit Operator.
  • Monitoring alarms to ensure that equipment is functioning properly.
  • Recording data on computer systems or writing down information on paper charts.
  • Controlling all plant operations and monitoring plant performance during emergencies to ensure they are functioning correctly.
  • Quickly respond and take corrective action to plant alarms
  • Maintaining records of daily operations, including maintenance schedules and equipment performance.
  • Responding to alarms by contacting operators at other facilities or initiating emergency response procedures.
  • Documenting events in a logbook or computerized system to track equipment status and record system performance.
  • Responding to emergencies by operating equipment such as alarm systems, generators, pumps, and sprinkler systems.
  • Monitoring real time data from equipment such as radiation levels or chemical concentrations to ensure that it does not exceed safe limits.
  • Quickly respond and take corrective action to plant alarms.

  • Specific Professional Knowledge: Mechanical :PSV, valves, Crane & other static equipment.
  • Ability to work onshore and offshore under the climatic conditions of the site
  • Ability to work in a multinational team.

Minimum Level of Experience required:

Job Description

  • Marine support to TUCN Offshore sites:
    • All TUCN offshore locations, Exploration activities, projects and other marine related activities as directed by the Marine Assurance Manager.
    • All watercraft of interest to TUCN (Construction vessels, MODU’s, OIMR, PSVs, AHT(S)/terminal tugs, security, Accommodation Vessels, Barges, crew boats work boats etc.)
    • Base and offices of vessel operators.
      Main Logistics sites : OML 99, 100, 102 and 130, Onne Port, in Port Harcourt or LILE Base in Lagos.
  • The Marine Superintendent assists the Marine Assurance Manager in providing expertise in the specialist field of marine engineering and operations in support of TUCN marine activities.

Technical Assistance:

  • Provide Marine expertise services as directed by the Marine Assurance Manager to all TUCN departments (GSR, Projects, ECP, Drilling, Production, General Services and HSE) concerning marine related activities.

Marine Assurance:

  • Implement Affiliate Marine Assurance plan under direction of Marine Assurance Manager
  • Assist with all marine auditing and inspection requirements, which includes auditing all types of offshore
  • support vessels and shore based technical support organizations.
    Conduct OVID inspections in line with OCIMF protocol.
  • Implement Dynamic Positioning (DP) system assurance for DP vessels.
  • Implement Affiliate Marine fleet monitoring for HSE compliance and operational excellence through physical presence on board vessels while in service and in port.
  • Coaching contractor personnel to introduce and maintain best practices in their operations.

Method:

  • Assist with the development of marine procedures.
  • Prepare and issue anomaly and incident reports.
  • Propose anomaly corrective actions and monitor implementation.
  • Provide technical feedback for Service Quality Meetings with Contractors.

  • 5 years experience as Chief Officer/Captain or 2nd Engineer/Chief Engineer on Offshore Vessels (AHTS, PSV, IMR) with DPO or DP technicians’ certificate.
  • Proven record of achievement within marine operations.
  • Languages: Fluent in spoken and written English.
  • Valid OVID inspector accreditation will be an advantage.
