1). Nigeria Rural Retail Operations Specialist

About the Role
- We are seeking a Strategy and Operations Specialist to work on several improvement projects related to the Rural Retail program, communications, operations, and overall strategy.
- You will manage between 5-10 team members who will be responsible for individual districts and you will report directly to the Rural Retail Lead.
Responsibilities
- Manage the scouting process to ensure that top-quality new sites are found and secured for the placement of Shops in new locations.
- Work with our Government Relations team to have the correct permits for operations issued.
- Manage all lease agreements and relationships with landlords across the shop portfolio.
- Manage contractors for shop set up and ensure all works are to the required quality standards;
- Manage all One Acre Fund assets across the portfolio, develop and run sound systems;
- Manage the implementation of inventory control systems at the shops;
- Manage procurement requests from the team, including daily demands, and general set-up requirements;
- Manage the records and payments for all staff employed on a short-term/casual basis.
- Make program design recommendations and systems improvements;
- Support data analysis needs across the department;
- Work on short-term support projects as informed by the needs of the operation.

2). Malawi Research and Impact Analyst

About the Role
- We are seeking an analytical research and evaluation professional to lead our Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning team in Malawi. You will report to the Malawi country director with a dotted line to the global MEL regional lead.
- You will be responsible for program study designs, using data analysis and results to make recommendations that steer our short- and long-term impact strategy, understand and increase farmer impact, and improve our operations.
- The M&E department at One Acre Fund operates like an in-house research department and the results are used first and foremost to inform program decision-making and to rigorously understand the impact.
Responsibilities
- Study design – You will collaborate with different teams to identify research objectives and draft survey tools to collect information for our impact analyses and other strategic queries.
- Data Collection – You will oversee data collection using quantitative and qualitative methods from 50+ field agents.
- Data quality control – You will uphold and improve data quality standards to ensure our impact evaluation and strategic decisions to improve our program are based on accurate and up-to-date information.
- Data Analysis – You will contribute to the analysis and triangulation of monitoring data and share findings with the country and global teams for learning and accountability purposes.
- Reporting and Recommendations – You will compile M&E results to draw early conclusions and write reports on the progress of project implementation, and recommend corrective actions. Work with the field teams to ensure MEL results and recommendations are understood and acted upon. You will support in the development of the annual country work plans, the Goals, and a monitoring evaluation and learning strategy for the strategic plans developed.
- Team management – You will directly manage 2 – 3 team members. Your direct reports manage a team of 60+ staff and you will mentor your team through weekly check-ins, field visits, training, and career reviews. You will also be responsible for the MEL department budget and human resources-related aspects.

Qualifications
Across all roles, these are the general qualifications we look for. For this role specifically, you will have:
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Research Methods, Statistics, Economics, Agronomy, or a related field.
- 2+ years experience designing quantitative and qualitative research tools, implementing evaluations, designing data collection tools, statistical data analysis, reporting and team management at a high level.
- Knowledge of evaluation concepts and mastery of experimental and quasi-experimental evaluation designs.
- Quantitative data skills and conduct analysis such as regressions, propensity score matching, the difference in difference design.
- Knowledge of statistical software (e.g. Stata, R, Advanced Excel) and ability to maintain complex spreadsheets.
- A willingness to commit to living in Zomba, Malawi for at least two years – this is a long-term, career-track role.
- Language – English required, ability to speak Chichewa will be an added advantage.

3). Global Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning Director

About the Role
- We are seeking a dynamic research and evaluation leader with proven experience implementing robust studies in rural areas, developing large teams, and communicating results effectively.
- The Global Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning Director will lead all MEL functions in the organization and be an important member of organizational leadership. You will report to the Global Impact Director at One Acre Fund.
- The MEL department at One Acre Fund functions like anin-house research and evaluation firm and conducts rigorous evaluations and analyses which inform internal decision-making as its #1 priority. The team has a presence in all countries of operation and employs a full-time staff of data collectors.
- The MEL department’s goal is to prove and improve program impact, and One Acre Fund has a culture of respecting data analysis and pivoting program activities in response to new evidence. This is a unique environment in which to lead MEL activities, with a true influence on program strategy.
Responsibilities
- Steward the internal annual evaluation studies that take place in all program countries and seek to measure and learn about One Acre Fund’s impact on farmers.
- Ensure the continuation of the highest quality of data collection and highest accuracy of the analysis that One Acre Fund has come to be associated with.
- Develop and continue professionalising MEL staff at all levels to set the standard for excellence in rural data collection.
- Ensure that MEL data and results continue to inform program strategy by working with program leadership to understand and devise strategies to implement results which maximize program impact.
- Work with senior leaders to collaboratively set and implement a long-term vision for all MEL functions, under the “Impact” umbrella
- Continue to deepen the One Acre Fund evidence base through periodic experimental studies of the immediate program impact or long-term outcomes on farmers’ lives and livelihoods. This can be contracted through external research partners or conducted in-house.
- Develop robust standardized methods for One Acre Fund’s newly evolving work. For example, you may create frameworks for evaluating market access programs, farmer resilience, or whole farm productivity in order to ensure a strong evidence base for operational decisions.
- Oversee the analysis and recommendations which inform the ability of organizational leaders to choose among multiple investments.
- Liaise with partners and donors to ensure that MEL data and analysis is responsive to their requests and requirements.
- Be the global voice for all MEL-related issues, to our organization and top leadership

Qualifications
Across all roles, these are the general qualifications we look for For this role specifically, we are seeking exceptional candidates with 7-10+ years of work experience in the evaluation field, in a developing country context and preferably in programs that address rural livelihoods. Candidates who fit the following criteria are strongly encouraged to apply:
- Master’s Degree or Higher in Agriculture, Economics, Demography, Statistics, Mathematics or a related field
- 7+ years experience in monitoring and evaluating complex programs
- 7+ years experience in a quantitative field (economics, agricultural/development economics, statistics, biostatistics, nutrition, applied sociology, anthropology, or other relevant field) with significant training in quantitative methods.
- 5+ years of experience managing teams and developing leaders across different geographies
- Technical skills: analyze data using one or more statistical software packages, including STATA or R
- Experience working in a multicultural workplace in a developing country
