About the Job

  • The Chief Operating Officer (COO) will be responsible for the success of the Bank in all its operational activities.
  • He/She will oversee day-to-day administrative, technology and operational functions of the bank.
  • The COO will collaborate with the Managing Director, executive team and heads of departments to develop and coordinate implementation of operational plans to drive the delivery of exceptional services to clients.

Responsibilities
Operational Leadership:

  • Provide strategic direction and oversight of all operational functions within the bank, including but not limited to treasury operations, trade finance, risk management, and compliance
  • Streamline operational processes, workflows, and systems to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and improve service quality
  • Implement best practices and standards to ensure operational excellence and regulatory compliance across all business units

Strategic Planning and Execution:

  • Collaborate with external partners, vendors, regulators, and industry associations to advance the bank’s strategic objectives and reputation

Leadership and Development:

  • Develop, and retain top talent to build a high-performing operations team capable of executing the bank’s strategic objectives
  • Provide leadership, guidance, and mentorship to operations staff, fostering a culture of accountability, teamwork, and professional growth
  • Implement training and development programmes to enhance skills, competencies, and knowledge across the operations function

Qualifications

  • First Degree in Banking, Finance, Economics, Business Administration or related field
  • MBA or relevant master’s degree
  • 10+ years of senior leadership experience in financial services operations, with a focus on merchant banking or investment banking
  • Proven track record of success in driving operational excellence, managing risk, and implementing strategic initiatives in a regulated environment
  • Strong understanding of financial markets, products, and regulatory requirements relevant to merchant banking activities
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively across all levels of the bank
  • Professional membership of relevant body or institution.
