The Federal University of Agriculture, Zuru was established following the assent to its establishment bill by the President, His Excellency Muhammadu Buhari GCFR on 25th July, 2019, making it the fourth University of Agriculture in Nigeria, situated in the Northwest region of the country. The University operates three Colleges with ten (10) degree-awarding programs in Agriculture, Basic Sciences, and Veterinary Medicine.

1). Vice-Chancellor

Location: Kebbi

Job Description

  • The Vice-Chancellor shall be the Chief Executive and Academic Officer of the University and shall exercise general supervision.
  • The Vice-Chancellor shall chair the Senate, serve as an ex-officio member of the Governing Council, and be responsible to the Council for managing the University’s human, financial, and material resources.

Qualities of the Applicant for the Post
Applicants for the post of Vice-Chancellor must:

  • Be a distinguished Professor with demonstrable academic leadership and proven management capacity.
  • Have not less than five (5) years of experience at the professorial rank in Agriculture, Veterinary Medicine, or Natural Sciences.
  • Be a scholar with a proven record of national and international scholarship.
  • Understand the vision, mission, and mandate of the Federal University of Agriculture Zuru.
  • Be innovative, inspire advancement in learning, and provide effective leadership.
  • Have the capacity for prudent resource management.
  • Possess cognate administrative experience.
  • Command the respect and loyalty of University staff and students.
  • Foster integration without discrimination based on race, color, ethnicity, gender, religion, or other intolerances.
  • Be morally sound with unquestionable integrity.
  • Be in sound health.
  • Be proficient in ICT.
  • Have the capacity to generate and attract funds.

Age of Applicants:

  • Eligible candidates should not be more than sixty-five (65) years at the time of assumption of office.

Tenure

  • The appointment shall be for a single term of five (5) years only.

Conditions of Service

  • Conditions of service shall be as applicable to the post of Vice-Chancellor in Nigerian Federal Universities.

2). Director of Physical Planning, Works, and Maintenance Services

 Location: Kebbi

Responsibilities

  • The Director of Works and Engineering Services is responsible to the Vice-Chancellor for the day-to-day operations of the Directorate.
  • The Director is also responsible for the management and maintenance of physical and infrastructural facilities in the University and ensures quality standards for physical structures.
  • The Director is responsible for maintaining the inventory of University properties, their upkeep, and security, and for carrying out additional responsibilities as assigned by the Vice-Chancellor.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Candidates must possess a good honors degree not below Second-Class Lower Division in Architecture, Civil Engineering, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Urban and Regional Planning, Quantity Surveying, or any relevant Degree from a recognized institution.
  • Possession of a higher degree in a relevant field would be an added advantage.
  • Candidates must be a member of an appropriate professional body with a current practicing license, have at least fifteen (15) years of post-qualification experience, and have held the rank of Deputy Director for at least four (4) years in a university system.

Salary and Conditions of Service

  • The salary and conditions of service for the post shall be as obtainable for the post of Director, Works, Services, and Maintenance in Nigerian Federal Universities and as may be determined by the Federal Government of Nigeria and the Council of the University.

3). Bursar

 Location: Kebbi

Responsibilities

  • The Bursar is a Principal Officer and, as the Chief Financial Officer of the University, is responsible to the Vice-Chancellor for the day-to-day administration and control of the financial affairs of the University.
  • For this vacant post, the University seeks candidates with vision, proven academic distinction, managerial ability, integrity, and transparency in private and public life.
  • The candidate should have the ability to develop linkages with external communities to support the emerging needs of the University, command respect, and engender cooperation and loyalty from staff and students.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Candidates must possess a good honors Degree not below Second-Class Lower Division in Accounting from a recognized University as well as recognized professional qualifications, such as ICAN, ACA, ANAN, CPA, ACMA, or ACCA.
  • Candidates must have at least fifteen (15) years of post-qualification experience, preferably in a university or comparable institution, and must have held the position of Deputy Bursar for at least five (5) years.
  • Candidates must be ICT compliant, able to command respect, and able to work collaboratively with colleagues.
  • Possession of a higher degree(s) would be an added advantage.
  • The candidate must not be more than sixty (60) years old at the time of assumption of duty.
