Job Title: Legal Officer

Location: Ikoyi, Lagos

Job Summary

  • The Legal Officer will be responsible for overseeing the company’s legal affairs, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations, drafting and reviewing contracts, and providing legal support across various departments.
  • The role requires a detail-oriented professional with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure the company complies with all legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Provide legal guidance on corporate governance, business policies, and risk management.
  • Conduct legal research to stay updated on relevant laws and industry regulations.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, agreements, and legal documents.
  • Identify potential legal risks in contracts and suggest necessary modifications.
  • Maintain a repository of all legal documents and ensure timely renewals.
  • Manage and coordinate company litigation matters.
  • Liaise with external legal counsel on disputes, court cases, and regulatory proceedings.
  • Represent the company in legal proceedings when required.
  • Ensure compliance with corporate laws, including company registrations and filings.
  • Handle intellectual property matters, including trademarks and copyrights.
  • Assist in drafting company policies and internal legal guidelines.
  • Collaborate with internal departments to provide legal support.
  • Engage with external regulatory bodies, legal firms, and government agencies when required.
  • Conduct legal awareness training for employees on compliance matters.

Key Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Law (LL.B); Call to Bar (B.L) is required.
  • A master’s degree or additional certifications (e.g., Company Secretarial Practice, Arbitration) is an
  • added advantage.
  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years of relevant legal experience, preferably in a corporate or commercial environment.

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
