  • In a continued effort to enhance Human Resource Development in the Niger Delta region, the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, is once again embarking on its Local Post Graduate Scholarship Programme. This scheme is designed to empower young people from the region with relevant training and skills, thereby equipping them for effective participation in the Federal Government’s Local Content Programme. The scholarship aims to foster global competitiveness by supporting academic excellence and professional development in key disciplines.
  • The scheme is open to suitably qualified applicants, with relevant Bachelor’s Degrees from recognized Universities in the following professional disciplines:
    • Agricultural Sciences
    • Architecture
    • Engineering
    • Environmental Sciences
    • Geosciences
    • Humanities
    • Information Technology
    • Law
    • Management & Social Sciences
    • Medical Sciences

Eligibility

  • To be eligible for the scholarship, applicants must be indigenes of the Niger Delta Region; be not older than forty (40) years of age and should possess a First Class, Second Class Upper, or Lower Bachelor’s Degree, or a Higher National Diploma (HND), with a minimum of Upper Credit and Post Graduate Diploma (PGD).

Selection Process

  • Initial Application Interested candidates must complete and submit an online application via the Commission’s Website.
  • Preliminary Shortlisting: Candidates will be shortlisted based on the following criteria:
    • WASSCE/ NECO results
    • Undergraduate Degree Classification (1st Class, Second Class Upper/Lower), PGD etc.
    • Valid Local Government Identification
  • Computer-Based Test (CBT): Shortlisted candidates will undergo a computer-based test conducted by our consultants at the designated centres in Akwa Ibom, Delta and Rivers States. Candidates must indicate their preferred zone on the registration portal.
  • Minimum Test Score: Candidates must attain a minimum score of 70% in the CBT to qualify for the next stage.
  • Further Shortlisting: Candidates who meet the minimum test score will be further shortlisted for oral interview
  • Final Verification: The final verification of the candidates involves verification through the respective Local Government Areas (LGAs) and Community Development Committees (CDCs).

Application Procedure

  • The following documents must be attached to the application:
    • Recent passport photograph.
    • Local Government Identification Letter.
    • Post Graduate admission letter from any recognized Nigerian university.
    • Relevant degrees from recognized universities.
    • NYSC Discharge/Exemption Certificate.
  • Upon successful completion of the application form, a registration number will be automatically assigned.
  • Applicants are advised to print a hard copy of the online-generated acknowledgment for future reference.
  • All shortlisted applicants will be announced and posted on the NDDC website: www.nddc.gov.ng. These shortlisted candidates will subsequently be required to take part in a Computer-Based Test (CBT).

Note

  • The Commission (NDDC) will not engage in any form of Communication with candidates who are not shortlisted for the Computer Based Test (CBT), not invited for oral interview, or not successful at the oral interview stage.
  • Preference will be given to candidates from Oil Producing Host/Communities/Local Government Areas as long as candidates meet the approved cut off mark. The Commission will ensure a fair spread of courses amongst beneficiaries within each State.
  • Deferral, Change of Institution and Course are not permitted.
  • The Commission reserves the sole and absolute discretion to select in line with the above stated criteria and its internal consideration. The decision of the Commission in this regard is final.
