Responsibilities:
- Ensure strict adherence to Company Rules concerning Performance in Drilling & Wells activities.
- Lead comprehensive internal and external performance assessments.
- Spearhead a culture of Continuous Improvement in Drilling & Wells operations within the affiliate.
- Ensure successful execution of Well operations in accordance with safety, environmental, and regulatory standards while optimizing costs and lead times.
- Contribute to maximizing returns on Exploration & Production investments through ongoing enhancements in equipment/resource utilization, services, and operational procedures.
Service Dimensions:
- Uphold personal commitment to COMPANY’s policies, standards, codes of conduct, and HSE requirements.
- Implement best engineering practices in Drilling & Wells operations.
- Develop and review KPIs and Performance Indices for Drilling & Well Activities, Inspection, QAQC, and Material Management (Handling, Storage Optimization).
- Collaborate with operations teams and various entities (GSR, C&P, ECP, Planning, Project team, Finance, etc.) to create medium to long-term drilling plans aimed at safe and cost-effective operations.
- Support the Manager, Methods and Performance, and Head of Materials and QAQC in delivering optimal support to Drilling & Well Operations (Rig-based, SEWOP, Barge, and Rigless operations).
Coordination:
- Play a pivotal role in the Drilling Wells Improvement process (DWIP) and “Solutions for Performance” directed at Drilling & Wells Operations.
- Contribute to fostering a culture of LEAN practices, cost rationalization, and continuous improvement within the Methods and Performance Team.
- Capture and disseminate lessons learned and best practices within the Drilling & Wells domain and to external stakeholders.
- Monitor well KPIs and CPIs database and benchmark operations against “best composite” performance to ensure optimal value extraction.
- Actively participate in monthly performance meetings.
- Ensure follow-up and closure of highlighted improvement actions.
Organization:
- Engage in risk assessment related to Well operations, identifying and implementing measures to ensure successful well delivery.
- Participate in operation debriefings with the rig and contractors to collect lessons learned, identify areas of improvement, and share experiences across the team.
- Take part in HSE audits, site committee meetings, and incident investigations at the bases and on the rig, actively promoting HSE initiatives.
Technical:
- Possess strong knowledge of all Drilling & Wells functions, including Drilling, Completions, Intervention, Well Integrity, and Fluids.
- Exhibit proficiency in Company referential standards, industry norms, and best practices required to achieve well objectives safely and efficiently.
- Propose innovative ideas and solutions for improving well performance.
- Share information and expertise through knowledge sharing (REX).
Accountabilities:
- Track and ensure the follow-up of Operations & Cost Performance Indices (KPIs, CPIs, etc.) for all assets within Drilling & Wells (Well Operations/Interventions/Support Services).
- Provide engineering support in compliance with technical referential standards, ensuring high-quality outputs to enhance Safety, Performance, and Well Delivery.
- Oversee the execution of studies aimed at enhancing performance and ensure the implementation of their results.
- Assist in optimizing the activities of service providers and assess their performance as needed.
- Aid in the planning and mobilization of resources (personnel, equipment, contracts) for the timely and safe execution of approved well operations.
- Maintain effective interfaces with internal and external entities to optimize well operations.
- Assist in the preparation and execution of invitations to tender for service and equipment contracts for Drilling & Wells teams when required.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Hold a Degree in the Sciences or Engineering.
- Possess 3-5 years of relevant technical experience in Well engineering roles.
- Proficient in Data Analysis Tools & Methods, Communication (oral & written), and Presentation skills.
- Strong knowledge of drilling engineering/operations, completion engineering, well interventions, and well integrity.
- Familiarity with material and equipment, QA/QC, and Inspection procedures, as well as stock management.
- Solid understanding of Company rules, Guides and Manuals, General Specifications, and the CMS related to Drilling and Wells, Safety, QA/QC, and associated disciplines.
- Knowledgeable in Contracts and Procurement, Finance, and Cost control.
- Familiar with Relevant Regulatory Authorities and Agencies in the Oil and Gas sector in Nigeria and internationally.
