Core Responsibilities

Tax:

  • Prepare tax returns and facilitate payments, offering payment plan suggestions.
  • Develop an annual tax plan aligned with the company’s objectives.
  • Research, estimate, and track tax returns.
  • Complete monthly, quarterly, and annual tax reports.
  • Manage and update the company’s tax database.
  • Recommend tax strategies aligning with business goals.
  • Prepare necessary paperwork for tax payments and returns.
  • Share financial data with the accounting department.
  • Identify tax savings opportunities and suggest profit-increasing methods.
  • Stay updated on industry tax trends and changes.
  • Collaborate with internal and external auditors.
  • Forecast tax predictions to Management.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, or local regulatory authorities.
  • Find tax solutions for complex tax issues or incorrect filings.
  • Advise Management on the impact of tax liabilities and new tax laws.

Audit:

  • Audit financial statements and assess bookkeeping accuracy and regulatory compliance.
  • Review internal control systems, conduct walkthrough processes, and analyze financial records and transactions.
  • Design the auditing process according to industry regulations, company policies, and business goals.
  • Identify and assess risk areas within departmental operations and processes.
  • Analyze adherence to budgetary standards and guidelines using financial data and balance sheets.
  • Review all financial materials and procedures to detect errors, inefficiencies, or misuse.
  • Document internal processes during audits, listing data sources and detailing conclusions.
  • Work on developing new best practices to increase accuracy and integrity.
  • Stay up-to-date through professional development.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality and security of sensitive information.

Requirements And Skills

  • Minimum of a B.Sc Degree with a First Class or 2:1 grade in Accounting, Economics, Finance, or a relevant field.
  • Industry certification (ICAN, ACCA, ACA).
  • At least 3 years of experience as a Tax and Audit Accountant, Tax Analyst, or Auditor.
  • Knowledge of accounting and bookkeeping procedures.
  • Familiarity with accounting software packages.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel.
  • Strong analytical and time management skills.
  • Excellent numeracy skills.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Organized and detail-oriented.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced, challenging work environment.
  • Proficiency with commercial tax and accounting software.
  • QuickBooks proficiency.
