What’s the Role?

  • Lead security risk management and functional support for all oil and gas project activities.
  • Manage security risks relating to project activities to reduce security risks to As Low as Reasonably Practicable (ALARP).
  • Provide an integrated security management system to cover project sites, operational areas/field security, and logistic / operational activities.

Responsibilities

  • Develop activity security plans and ensure the plans are implemented.
  • Provide assurance on the level of security mitigations deployed across projects, including the sharing of learning across the team.
  • Contract Management of all security contracts within the project and interfacing with contractor security focal points.
  • Ensure compliance with security policies, procedures, and standards as per Group Security Standards and the Group HSSE&SP Control Framework.
  • Prepare/review activity/contractor security plans and deploy resources efficiently and effectively.
  • Analyse security intelligence reports and deploy security resources to mitigate risks.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with security stakeholders at tactical and operational levels in support of projects.
  • Fostering a culture of security awareness by conducting security briefings and awareness to project and contractor staff respectively
  • Liaise with Corporate / Government Relations in projects and provide necessary security support at times of community engagements and/or disturbances.
  • Manage all security activities, including access control, demonstrably reflecting projects HSSE strategy, policy, and guidelines.
  • Participate in the investigation of security incidents within team.
  • Participate in HSSE inspection of security facility deployed within the team.
  • Understanding the security and geo-political dynamics across the Niger Delta, especially Ohaji-Egbema area of Imo State. Develop security concepts to manage complex risks.
  • Managing other non-technical risks, and fully understanding scope of projects. Implement technical security requirements as part of project deliverable.
  • Requires willingness to multitask under intense pressure and tight timelines.
  • Work closely with the security intelligence team, including knowledge of appropriate technical security requirements.

Requirements
What we need from you:

  • At least a Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized institution. Post graduate qualification in relevant fields will be an advantage.
  • Professional industrial security certification (Certified Security Project Manager, PSP or CPP from ASIS or equivalent body)
  • Good knowledge of E&P business, especially in the Niger Delta and Gulf of Guinea.
  • At least 10 years of relevant experience – minimum of 5 years industrial security experience in the Niger Delta.
  • Strong understanding of the political and security interfaces as well as stakeholder dynamics across the region and project areas.
  • Experience in audit and assurance would be beneficial.
  • Strong project management, strategic thinking, team working, conceptual analytics, planning, communication and writing skills. Ability to work across teams and collaborate with others to deliver result.
  • Experience in security risk assessments and managing security for a facility.
  • Personal passion and continuous improvement mindset.
  • Ability to manage and drive cost reduction: drive creativity and innovation.
  • Good computing skills and experience with managing data, creating, and managing simple database and general use of spreadsheet for activity planning. Experience with SharePoint and use of Excel may be an advantage.

  • This position is responsible for the management of the assurance process over all Security activities with focus on Functional Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) Ethics and Compliance Risks and Control Framework Compliance Assurance.
  • In addition, building capability within Security ensuring the function has the correct skills and competencies required to deliver SCiN’s business objectives, safely.
  • Providing leadership, coordination, and supervision over Assurance activities, Security Capability Development of personnel; Integrate other supporting teams/personnel providing a cross functional/business approach; Develop and write annual Security training plans; and interface with the OD&L to develop the Learning Demand plan for Security.

  • This role supports the Security team and key stakeholders by managing all security assurance activities, identifying gaps against a set of identified competences and team capabilities and implementing a gap closure plan.
  • Provide support to the GM Security through identification of improvement areas across the Security function, identify & track actions with a focus on contributing to business profitability.

Activities include identifying the knowledge/skill requirement for each Security role / team and associated competence gaps, developing / implementing strategies to close the competence gaps through:

Responsibilities

  • Provide Security Assurance and business improvements on the core deliverables on the security function:
    • Assess and track Security assurance actions raised from LoD activities – audits, SRAs.
    • Radar focal point for Security function and leading action close out.
  • Develop internal assurance plan (LOD1) based on threat outlook, business risks, and the focus areas; manage and track the implementation of the assurance plan actions.
  • Drive asset verification of deployed security support equipment and monitor contractor performance.
  • Participate in the creation of robust country & functional plans; track/report progress against plans aligned with timing of regular business reviews. Support leadership in creation and management of governance frameworks and business strategies
  • Drive Ethics & Compliance in the Security function through development and implementation of an approved annual plan:
    • Maintain oversight of Government Security Agency E&C risk mitigations
  • Manage the regional compliance documentation and database ensuring all country risk assessments / security plans are current and within review timelines.
  • Support the Security function to assure the delivery of security plans and threat risk assessments across for all SCiN assets and activities.
  • Works closely with SYLT to ensure training needs are aligned with the needs of the Corporate security functions, Security Competence Profile and SCiN Security business priorities.
  • Collaborate with OD & Learning team to ensure that Security annual learning plans are collated and completed within approved budget in line with OD & Learning strategy of 70:20:10 and KM as well as meeting Key business priorities, capability focus and capability groups:
    • Facilitate the development of the annual Security function focus areas in alignment with the overall business objective.
    • Sets objectives coaches/mentors, assesses performance, and addresses skill development for Security team.
    • Coordinate quarterly and annual engagement sessions between SYLT and OD & Learning team to assess the performance of allocated annual learning budget.
  • Drive best practice sharing and learning through global networking, Regional interfaces and co-ordination.
  • Collate data to enable monthly / annually Security Performance Review in order that trends are recognized and acted upon.

Requirements
What we need from you:
