Job Description

• A reputable Secondary school committed to academic excellence and character development is seeking a passionate and experienced Government Teacher to join our team.
• The ideal candidate will be responsible for teaching Government to secondary school students, preparing them for internal and external examinations, and fostering a deep understanding of civic responsibilities, political structures, and governance principles.

Responsibilities

• Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging Government lessons in alignment with the national curriculum.
• Develop students’ critical thinking, analytical, and research skills in governance and political studies.
• Prepare students for WAEC, NECO, and other relevant examinations.
• Design and implement engaging classroom activities, debates, and discussions to enhance learning.
• Assess and evaluate students’ progress through tests, assignments, and examinations.
• Provide mentorship and guidance on civic responsibilities and leadership.
• Maintain accurate records of student performance and provide constructive feedback.
• Collaborate with other faculty members and contribute to extracurricular activities.
• Ensure discipline, order, and a positive learning environment in the classroom.

Qualifications

• Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree (B.Ed/B.A/B.Sc) in Political Science, Government, Law, or a related field.
• A Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) is an added advantage.
• Minimum of 2-5 years of teaching experience in Government at the secondary school level.
• Proficiency in classroom management and the use of modern teaching methodologies.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
• Passion for teaching and mentoring students for academic excellence.
