1). Researcher/Scriptwriter – Business Insider

Location: Maryland, Lagos

Employment Type: Full-time

Position Summary

  • Business Insider is looking for a Researcher/Scriptwriter to join the team.
  • As a Researcher/Scriptwriter, you will work with our in-house video team to create compelling and exciting videos that will engage with the Business Insider Africa audience, clients and meet marketing strategies and objectives.
  • Our ideal candidate has a knack for in-depth research and creative and engaging of storytelling.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Research and develop scripts for Business Insider – internal and for clients.
  • Craft compelling video documentary scripts
  • Researching trending business topics for video and podcast content
  • Developing podcast scripts and question guides
  • Fact-check all information used in video scripts
  • Contribute to new video format development and implementation.
  • All around assistance on pre-production activities.
  • You may be required to manage more than one brief at a time and will therefore have to prioritize effectively allocating the relevant amount of time and resources according to the value of the job
  • Ensure that deadlines are met on all projects.
  • Ensure proper organization and safekeeping of research documents and logs.
  • Maintain strong, trusting relationships with all internal and external collaborators – clients and internal teams.

Desired Skills & Experience

  • 2-3 years experience doing research and developing scripts for branded video content is preferred
  • Expansive video script-writing portfolio
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong knowledge of Google and Microsoft Workspace – docs, sheets, drive, slides, etc.
  • Very organized, goal-oriented, and can drive results while multi-tasking priorities
  • A lot of energy, passion and enthusiasm.
  • Experience with on-screen presenting is a plus.

2). Copywriter

  • As a Copywriter, you will be responsible for crafting compelling and engaging copy for a variety of digital campaigns.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with clients and internal stakeholders to understand their goals and objectives, and translate them into effective and persuasive copy.
  • Participate in brainstorming sessions and contribute innovative ideas for campaigns and content strategies.
  • Work with the creative and strategy teams to ensure cohesive messaging and visual alignment.
  • Conduct thorough research and competitor analysis to ensure content is unique, relevant, and aligned with industry trends and best practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in English, Journalism, Marketing, Communications, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience as a Copywriter, preferably within a digital agency.
  • Strong portfolio showcasing your writing skills, creativity, and expertise in digital marketing.
  • In-depth knowledge of digital marketing trends, platforms, and technologies.
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
  • Strong communication, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with clients, stakeholders, and cross-functional teams.

3). Tech Manager

Position Summary

  • We are looking for a Tech Manager to join our team. As a Tech Manager, you will be involved in managing website content to ensure it is accurate, up-to-date, and well-organized.
  • You are to track support requests, analyze website performance, collaborating with the development team, and optimizing content for search engines.
  • You will conduct keyword research, optimize on-page elements, improve website authority through SEO strategies, and create user documentation.
  • The role also requires monitoring metrics, generating reports, and implementing SEO improvements. You will stay current with SEO trends and may be asked to work weekends to meet deadlines.

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for monitoring and maintaining the Pulse and Client’s website performance, ensuring that it is accessible, functional, and user-friendly.
  • Conduct regular checks for broken links, errors, and performance issues, and take necessary actions to resolve them.
  • Responsible for managing the website’s content, ensuring that it is up-to-date, accurate, and relevant. You may be required to work with content creators and editors to publish new content, update existing content, and ensure proper categorization and organization.
  • Training website users on how to navigate and utilize the website’s features effectively. This will involve webinars, creating user manuals or guides, and providing ongoing support to ensure users can make the most of the website’s functionalities.
  • Track and log user-reported issues, maintain a record of support requests, and generate reports on website performance and user feedback. You will be required to analyze the data to identify trends, areas for improvement, and implement necessary changes to enhance the website’s functionality and user experience.
  • Collaborate closely with the website development team to communicate user feedback, suggest enhancements, and assist in testing new features or updates.
  • Conduct keyword research to identify relevant keywords and phrases that users are using to search for products, services, or information related to the website. You will be required to analyze search volume, competition, and user intent to develop a strategic keyword list.
  • Optimize various on-page elements of the website, including meta tags, headings, URLs, and content. Ensure that these elements are optimized with relevant keywords, unique and compelling content, and proper formatting to improve search engine visibility and user experience.
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve the website’s authority and reputation through off-page optimization techniques. This may include building high-quality backlinks from reputable websites, managing online directories and citations, and participating in relevant industry forums and communities.
  • Work closely with content creators to optimize website content for search engines. You ensure that the content is relevant, engaging, and optimized with targeted keywords.
  • Track and analyze website performance using various tools and analytics platforms. Monitor keyword rankings, organic traffic, bounce rates, and other relevant metrics to identify areas for improvement.
  • Generate monthly reports and provide recommendations to optimize SEO strategies based on data analysis.
  • Create a website help guide documentation manual to guide backend users to make changes to the website.
  • You may be required to work weekends and any other tasks not listed here to meet deadlines.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest trends, algorithm updates, and best practices in SEO. You will continuously learn and adapt their strategies to ensure the website remains competitive and aligned with search engine guidelines.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • BSc / BA in Computer Science, Design or in a related field is preferred
  • At least two years work experience
  • Knowledge of web analytics and SEO
  • Familiarity with web standards
  • Working knowledge of website management tools and design tools
  • Knowledge in HTML/CSS, XML, CMS is preferred
  • Strong troubleshooting and analytical abilities
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
