Job Description

  • We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Accountant to join their Bureau de Change team. As an integral member of our financial department, you will be responsible for managing all accounting and financial tasks, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our financial records, and supporting the overall financial operations of the bureau.

Responsibilities

  • Financial Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records for the bureau de change, including transactions, expenses, revenues, and other financial activities.
  • Bookkeeping: Perform day-to-day bookkeeping tasks such as recording financial transactions, reconciling bank statements, and maintaining general ledgers.
  • Financial Reporting: Prepare financial reports, including monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, for management review and regulatory compliance.
  • Budget Management: Assist in the development and monitoring of budgets, providing insights and recommendations to improve financial performance and cost efficiency.
  • Tax Compliance: Ensure compliance with tax regulations and filing requirements, including VAT, income tax, and other relevant taxes.
  • Audit Support: Support external auditors during audits by providing documentation, explanations, and assistance as required.
  • Financial Analysis: Conduct financial analysis to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement, and provide actionable insights to management.
  • Risk Management: Identify and assess financial risks, develop strategies to mitigate risks, and implement internal controls to safeguard assets and prevent fraud.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Stay updated on regulatory changes affecting financial operations and ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
  • Team Collaboration: Collaborate with other members of the finance team and departments across the bureau to achieve financial goals and objectives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. ACCA certification preferred.
  • Proven experience working as an accountant, preferably in a financial institution or bureau de change.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial regulations, and taxation.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and MS Office applications, particularly Excel.
  • Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across teams.
  • High level of integrity and ethical standards.
  • Adaptability and willingness to learn new concepts and technologies.
  • Knowledge of foreign exchange markets and currency trading is a plus.

Salary

  • NGN 200,000 per month.
