Compliance Intern at Baobab

Baobab is an investment business whose objective is to establish a network of microfinance companies in at least 15 countries by 2015, providing financial services and savings products to entrepreneurs who do not have access to established financial institutions. PlaNet Finance and other investors, including International Finance Corporation, AXA Belgium, and Societe Generale, founded Baobab in July 2005. The European Investment Bank, the French Development Agency, and Developing World Markets eventually joined.

Reporting to: Head Compliance

Job Description

• Assist to plan, organising and carry out the compliance functions
• Assist in conducting risk assessment of all departments
• Carry out daily call-over for all transaction across branches
• Reduce the percentage of unsatisfactory ratings
• Conduct periodic assessments to evaluate conformance with code of ethics and regulatory standards (regulatory bodies)
• Evaluate compliance with existing policies and procedures, identifying and proposing modifications as needed
• Assist in evaluating information security and associated risk exposures
• Assist in evaluating regulatory compliance program
• Save costs by implementing internal controls recommendations.
• Evaluate the organization’s readiness in case of business interruption

Profile

• Possess a Bachelor’s Degree in relevant fields.
• Ability to listen, adapt, persuade and transform
• Ability to make new and useful ideas work;
• Ability to produce deliverables conforming to the required standard;
• Ability to support a team and team building skills;
