Job Summary
- As a Computer Hardware and Software Technician, you will be responsible for providing technical support and maintenance services for computer hardware, software, and related systems.
- You will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our IT infrastructure and supporting our employees in resolving technical issues.
Responsibilities
- Diagnose and resolve hardware and software issues reported by end-users in a timely manner.
- Install, configure, and maintain computer hardware, including desktops, laptops, printers, and peripherals.
- Install and configure operating systems, software applications, and drivers.
- Perform hardware and software upgrades and ensure compatibility with existing systems.
- Set up and maintain computer networks, including LANs and wireless networks.
- Monitor and maintain the inventory of computer equipment and software licenses.
- Collaborate with the IT team to develop and implement backup and disaster recovery plans.
- Provide technical support and guidance to end-users on computer usage, software applications, and IT policies.
- Document and maintain accurate records of hardware and software repairs, installations, and upgrades.
- Stay updated on the latest trends and developments in computer hardware and software technologies.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (preferred) OR equivalent work experience and certifications.
- Must have 2-3 years of practical experience as a computer hardware/ software engineer.
- Proven experience as a computer hardware and software technician or a similar role.
- Strong knowledge of computer hardware components, including CPUs, RAM, hard drives, and graphics cards.
- Proficiency in installing, configuring, and troubleshooting operating systems (e.g., Windows, macOS, Linux) and software applications.
- Experience with computer networking, including LAN/WAN, TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and wireless technologies.
- Familiarity with virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V) and cloud computing platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure) is a plus.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills to diagnose and resolve technical issues.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with end-users and explain technical concepts in non-technical terms.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
- Certifications such as CompTIA A+, CompTIA Network+, and Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA) are desirable.
- This position requires a strong knowledge of computer hardware and software components, excellent troubleshooting skills, and the ability to communicate effectively with end users.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and carry computer equipment and peripherals (up to 50 pounds).
- Ability to work in various physical positions, such as kneeling, bending, and reaching, to perform hardware installations and repairs.
