Title: Credit Admin and Risk Management Lead

Location: Lagos

Summary of the Role

  • As the Credit Admin and Risk Management Lead at our fast-paced B2B fintech company, you will have a unique opportunity to build and manage our credit risk strategy and operations.
  • You will work with stakeholders to develop and implement credit policies, oversee underwriting processes, and ensure the overall quality of our loan portfolios.
  • Your expertise will be instrumental in establishing our lending success, maintaining a healthy credit portfolio, and contributing to our growth in the competitive financial technology landscape.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and continuously refine credit risk strategies and policies for both B2B and B2B2C lending segments, ensuring a balanced approach between risk and growth objectives.
  • Take ownership of credit decision-making, leveraging your experience to assess applicants’ financials, credit ratings, and business profiles accurately.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including product and finance, to align credit offerings with business objectives and enhance credit scoring models, optimizing decision-making processes, and ensuring regulatory compliance.
  • Monitor and manage the ongoing performance of the lending portfolio, proactively identifying trends, risks, and opportunities to maintain a healthy credit portfolio.
  • Innovate and implement collection and recovery strategies to minimize delinquency and credit losses, safeguarding the overall health of the portfolio.
  • Stay informed about industry trends, market conditions, and regulatory developments, integrating these insights into credit risk strategies and operational processes.
  • Work collaboratively with marketing and sales teams to align credit offerings with business objectives, contributing to customer acquisition and retention.
  • Provide periodic updates on credit risk performance, portfolio health, and strategic recommendations to executive leadership and stakeholders.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, business, or a related field; MBA or relevant advanced degree is a plus.
  • Proven track record of at least 3 years of experience in credit risk management within the fintech or financial services industry, with a strong focus on both B2C and B2B lending.
  •  Good knowledge of credit risk assessment, underwriting methodologies, and portfolio management practices.
  • Experience in developing and implementing credit policies, strategies, and decisioning frameworks.
  • Strong self-leadership skills, demonstrating the ability to independently motivate and drive results within a nascent credit department.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a data-driven approach to decision-making.
  • Familiarity with credit scoring models, data analytics, and technology-driven lending platforms.
  • Solid knowledge of relevant regulations and compliance requirements within the lending industry.
  • Exceptional communication skills, capable of effectively presenting complex information to diverse audiences.
